Snejana Onopka

that interview was priceless she is quotable completely:lol::heart:

Thanks ever so much for the translation, MyNameIs. I was in complete awe reading what Snejana had to voice. She mentioned Emmanuelle Alt a few times and is shooting with Mert & Marcus. Snejana must have a couple of things lined up and I cannot wait.

my immediate thought was Vogue Paris.

You probably know about the upcoming Vogue Ukraine. The first issue is coming out in March. Was it an honor for you to work with Vogue Ukraine?

I’ve already worked with Vogue Ukraine. I had a shoot. I can’t say that it was an honor for me. In my 8 years in the fashion industry, I’ve earned a certain status and level. I shot a few photographs for Vogue Ukraine – we’ll see what comes of it. But I can’t say that it was my dream or that I’m incredibly happy to be on the pages of this magazine.

way to burn your bridges :ninja:

"I know that a lot of models say they “become” the role during a shoot – they think of a story in their head, playing a certain character. Do you also do that?

No. I don’t do any of that."

I love her no-nonsense attitude lol.
Happy Birthday Diva!

Her latest interview was wonderful. Lots of respect for this woman!

Happy belated birthday Snejana. ^_^

Great interview, thanks for the translation, MyNameIs!:flower:

I'm wondering what the Mert & Marcus shoot is for. Just can't wait.:woot:

I adore Snejana. She is one of my favorites and I love that she clearly speaks everything what's in her head.
But for the same reason I think we will see less and less of her:(

I think she comes off as very blunt in interviews, but I imagine that among people she knows or works with, IRL she is personable and not the 'diva/b*tch' people call her who have never actually dealt with her. :innocent: She is a very strong woman and it's unfair to expect her to temper that by being cutesy or mincing words, that expectation is rarely put upon men... I guess my point is that she alone dictates what her career is like. Clearly some very powerful photographers and designers like her just as she is.

Snejana is quite realistic and smart. She knows that her campaigns have sold products and have put photographers/stylists/hair & make up people etc on the map. Why? Because she is a very very talented model and great at her job. Would any other model have been asked to "be Anna Wintour"? I suspect not.

I have to admit, I loved her interview - it really changed my mind about her. I never liked her because of her 'diva reputation', but I admire her for not saying what people expect/want to hear. She is just sincere, has a strong personality & seems to be quite down-to-earth...
Oh and happy belated birthday!

^I think she's always been like that in her Ukrainian/Russian media interviews. While she herself admits to not having the most easiest of personalities, going strictly by what we know from the outside, I bet all the rumors of her being a diva/difficult/etc are exaggerated. I think her being reserved, young, and not speaking any English in the beginning contributed greatly to this reputation. When she's talking in Russian and is able to explain herself fully, she's honest, realistic, opinionated, and humble yet very aware of her achievements.

i woundn't go that far. it's more like the other way around. these are people who have been in this business for years unlike models who come and go.
