Snejana Onopka

I know she's established but I don't understand her aversion to actually working. She's not working most of the year so I don't understand why she doesn't work now.

ax80, I understand that. It's just really frustrating watching her throw away her chance to really be a superstar in the modeling world. It's something that I have to come to terms with because she's shown it time and time again that she doesn't love modeling, won't do any more than the bare minimum she can get away with, etc.

Also, reading again that writeup from Weekly about her being one fo the richest self-made women in Ukraine, it also says that she entered a University. "Last year she got accepted into a national Taras Shevchenko University for the study of psychology and sociology."

There were various shows in Milan that I was utterly surprised she did not walk in. She could very well be preparing to leave the industry for school; if that is what she desires then good for her I suppose. It is easy to assume that these women want to model for the rest of their lives, but that is usually not true.

We can't now what she thinks. Did she ever really say modelling is just a job to her? I heard something like that.

She has said in early interview during ss06) that she thinks modelling is okay but it's not her dream, she initally wanted to study languages then there was talk of being a lwayer now I guess she's studying pschology.

That interview took place when she was just beginning. I would say that she either put up with it longer than other models who do not enjoy working, or over time her attitude towards it became more accepting. She has been around for a while, especially considering how often aesthetics change with casting and such.

^yeah that's what I was trying to say, she was very young when she said that, in a F/W07 models talk video she said she's grown acustomed to her job and the only thing she doesn't like about her job is getting up early in the morning. She always says she's greatful to Meisel and Karl Lagerfeld for launching her career but now it's fading either because she herself doesn't have the same drive that Sasha and Natasha do or because there's so many new girls it's hard for her to compete...who can say?

Yes, that is disappointing. I suppose that there is a small chance that Meisel would utilize her again after appearing in his January VI editorial. That could give her some strength over others.

^That is the dream...It woul be good if he used Snejana like her periodically uses Iselin. Or that she becomes someone's muse but she has worked with all the top pohotgraphers I think so it seems unlikely now. That or a cosmetics contract with high visibility. We can only hope her agent is taking care of her career as best he can. Maybe all is not lost and she is shooting something important?

I was going to mention a cosmetics contract as well. If she did leave the industry I would want it to be by her own choosing, not due to her lack of achieving work.

Snejana achieved a lot very quickly she booked all top jobs all at once, back when it was un heard of, that's why she's experiencing her current burn out. This is the fate Toni, Sgirid and Anna J's agencts are trying to avoid, it's better for the long run, unfortunately Snejana's career serves as an example of how not to deal with inital hysteria. She became over exposed quickly, then models with her look became phased out (Eugenia, Hana S, Inguna etc).

Hana and Eugenia were slightly earlier than her, but I see what you are getting at. Toni did have an absurd amount of campaigns.

Could switching agencies serve her better? Of course, there would be little purpose in doing so if she is indeed apathetic about working.

She did switch from DNA to Women (she followed her booker), as did Agyness and a few other models but it did not do much for them unfortunately.

Perhaps a new booker would be well advised (if you meant that she went with her original booker to Women). As you mentioned earlier, there are far too many girls working. It is unfortunate how easily models are replaced.

Maybe Divanopka picked up a special Bentley and drove it back to Kyiv herself.

lol i love how this thread goes through seasonal analysis/depression then bam! snejana shows up and all is forgiven and forgotten.
