New interview with Snejana from the Marella event. My translation.
Snejana, in your words, how would you characterize the brand Marella? What's your opinion on it as a whole?
First of all, I really like the people working at Marella. That's very important. If you like the people, you like what they do. Most of the pieces (of Marella) I would happily wear myself. I think it's a very great brand, very 'easywear', wearable.
What piece that you tried on during the shoot did you like most of all?
To be honest with you there were so many beautiful pieces that I can't even remember on that I liked most of all. The whole collection made a great impression on me.
Marella is a line of MaxMara. What is your opinion on that brand?
I participated in a campaign for MaxMara and can tell you that they also have very wearable and practical clothes. Overall, I really like the brand.
Do you have a hobby?
Perhaps I haven't found that one activity I could do in my spare time, and therefore I don't really have a hobby. I adore listening to all kinds of music, love tv shows. To be honest, I love all sorts of banal things like all normal people. I don't really love to read, I don't even know why but my eyes immediately start to hurt.
How about travel?
I love traveling, but you know, I've already traveled the whole world. Therefore, these days for a vacation I pick places that are closest to home so that I don't have to fly far. But without a doubt, I am happy that I was able to see the world and learn so much. It's amazing.
Do you have a personal 'model off-duty' style?
I prefer 'casual', but at the same time, I can't pass by shoes, clutches and bags from Chanel. Very much love scarfs, all your typical wardrobe pieces and of course, jewelery, like any regular woman.
Do you follow the trends in fashion? If so, which of the latest trends impressed you?
Of course I'm in the know of the latest fashion trends, even though I don't try to follow them. I'm comfortable in my own clothes, which I wear, and therefore I don't chase fashion. Main things are confidence and comfort.
How do you stay in shape and healthy with such a stressful schedule? Do you have any secrets?
I really love a good sleep and a tasty meal. I can eat all night, all I want - no limits. My only problem - my allergy to the sweets, and I really love sweets.
To be the fact of a brand, for you it's more of a pleasure or work?
I think if you love your job, no matter what you do, you do it with/for pleasure. I live this and don't see another life for myself. Therefore, collaborating with Marella for me is great joy.
You were the fact of Etro, Lanvin, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada and other famous fashion houses. You are legitimately one of the most successful models. Do you still have dreams which haven't come true yet in your modeling career?
You know, if I said that I have no dreams, it would just be my most foolish statement. If you stop, it means you're on your way down. One must never stop, one must always strive for something and dream of something, even if it seems unrealistic. One must try and reach, no matter how much work and effort it took. Believe me, for me too it is very difficult at times, but I get over it and keep on going.
In your opinion, what is the state of development of Ukrainian fashion?
(laughs) To be honest, I do not see Ukrainian fashion at all. I do have a friend, Andre Tan, who periodically, about once every five years, asks me to open his shows. If I'm speaking objectively, Ukrainian fashion must still evolve and evolve. And the local designers must especially look at the trends (of world fashion), that's very important. So far, they're not on trend. Either they try to copy one brand completely, and the end result is fake, or they try to do something who knows what. But of course I would want it all to grow in Ukraine. I want to believe that one day we'll have a fashion industry.
How is it for you being recognized on the street. And where are you most often recognized, home or abroad?
Everywhere. Sometimes I'd be standing on a street in New York and suddenly someone shouts, "Snejana!". But I'm absolutely a regular girl, not a star or a supermodel. Of course, I am a person who is striving for that. I hope everything works out in the future. But at the moment, I'm a regular person, whom people just happen to recognize a bit more just because I've been working for 7 years in this field and am striving for something.
