thanks for this thread runner. i wasn't aware this award existed. when you mentioned yohji created something during his days as bunka i expected the usual oversized garb...the piece is so modish! and i am tickled by the fur top. she looks like a cosmopolitan forest ranger of the future.

the winning piece is so fantastical. it reminds me of that yohji collection a few years back with the drawstring bag/dresses. runner, you just made my day!

i just discovered this thread....

incredible, this is just great!!!!

anyone happen to have anymore pictures?

This is superb:-) I love the 60's pictures:-)
Thanks runner!

It's great to be able to see these images from the 60's. This thread brings a smile to my face. Thank you runner! :flower:

you're all welcome

yes skot it seems the pic is from the 78th.

five dudding designers win the prizes in the contest.
first prize, second, third, the Itokin prize, the rooms prize
they accept the entries three times a year.
you can submit your portfolio to one of three judges at each opportunity.
each judge selects four candidates. and then each candidate makes one look from the portfolio within a month. after it is photographed, candidates have an interview with the judge.
then, the judge selects two from the four for the finals.
the two make three looks within two months, and they are shown on the final runway.

for example Hitomi Hirose selected by Chisato Tsumori won the rooms prize in the finals for the 80th.

oh wow! i really love the textures of kanako and aki and i adore the innovation(some may say that looks chalayan-esque but to me it's much more accessible) .....amazing prints+i do have a weakness for the red he uses.

thanks runner!

I just noticed this thread:blink:Thank You Runner:flower:

sort of elaborate trompe l'oeil
shades, creases, drapes, and wind (the flutter) represented by darts, seams, and brushwork like a picture

the designer who nominated her was yoshiki hishinuma
