I'm a 33 male, a large build, but not fat, 220 lbs., light complexion (Irish/Italian)

I want to brush up my wardrobe without completely breaking the bank (I usually will never spend more than $100 for a piece, unless its jeans, then I'll hit $150)

I almost always wear jeans (Seven, Mavi). My shirts are mostly button down (Ben Sherman, Lucky). I'm looking to keep my look casual, to dressy/casual.

I need to flesh out my wardrobe with versatile pieces. I need mostly shirts, maybe a blazer or jacket that can be paired with jeans. More shirt/sweater options. Shoes? Other jeans suggestions with specific models or washes you can recommend.

Links to specific pieces or collections would be great, stores they are sold at. I need common chain stores so I can find this stuff easily. I'm a newbie to the fashion world, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all in advance.

Well, this suggestion was given to me when I was looking for help for my husband, who has the exact opposite problem as you in being short, very slim, and dark. Anyway the suggestion is that you might go to a higher-end department store and engage the services of a personal shopper for an afternoon. They're trained to help people find good matches in styles of clothing for the person's body type and budget.

is there any Zara store where you live?
this could be so affordable that you could actually dare experimenting with a wide variety of trend inspired looks without regret ;) :flower:

A great place to shop online is www.bluefly.com I say go there and take a look around. They have great deals on designer clothes like Helmut Lang, Gucci, and Marc Jacobs (thats if your into those brands) and you can buy most of there basic pieces around 100.00 and they have others brands as well

other wise I say try www.clubmonaco.com They have all the basics for any wardrobe :flower:

what kind of shoes do you own...?

I usually wear Sketchers with jeans. They're like low boots, or big shoes.

I also recommend looking carefully through yoox.com, in addition to bluefly.com. The prices at these two sites are just ridiculous sometimes (in a good way).
