Spray On Permanent Tan

the idea kind of freaks me out - maybe it's just me being paranoid, but it can't be healthy to apply permanent chemicals to your skin... what's in this stuff? I mean if it's permanent, then it must be very strong...? skin is part of our body too and people really need to be aware of what they're putting on it!

I'm with erin and alex, I'll just stick with what I was born with - my pale skin. a few freckles (with is semi-acceptable stage before I proceed to get sunburned) are as much as I care to have... if I tried one of these fake tans I am pretty sure I'd look more sickly than without, since it's just not natural to my colouring.

Ross did the spraything... wasn't that enough of a warning?

lol, thats so funny !! ross is like, to the tan shop man, "what number are you ??" and then he goes im "pueto rican" (sp??) so funny :p my friends and i used to quote that episode loads when one of us got a major tan.

Oh this was in the news. Apparently it's the new fashion in Brazil....

It lasts a week or so and it's not dangerous for your skin.

x

"Two, I'll take a two then" haha Ross is my fav :D

To stay more on topic: I'd never get a cheesy tan. I used to be so insecure about being a pale face, but now I rather enjoy being closer to transparent than my friends :p Remember the 20s? Being pale was considered very attractive and important, because it would mean you were rich enough to not have to work out in the sun all day. People would put white powder on their faces paler.

Yes, they have had the spray on tans where I live for some time now. It's quite popular here, but we have a warm climate and a tan is still considered 'healthy' (even though we have the highest rate of skin cancer in the world).....sounds ridiculuous, doesn't it.

I remember not that long ago when I used to get teased for having such pale skin. Of course, I have the last laugh now because I don't look like a prune.;)

Anyway, back on topic.....as far as I'm aware these chemicals are quite safe...they have been around for ages and have undergone rigourous testing. Even I must admit that I get (faux) tanned before I go on hols to Bali as I get heavily harrassed to buy buy buy from the locals without a tan. With a tan, I look more seasoned.

yes, thats the one, checked it with my friend..
*it lasts for a week (she already has it a week and it's still there)
*it's supposedly totally safe >she's taking very good care of herself and she checked very well before attempting it
*she had it for free but she said it should be around 30 euros which is ok..

*just wanted to check if its a trend in other parts of the world (makes sense in Brasil, as it does in Greece, much more for the start of the season zzzz) and to tell you that it looks perfectly 'natural' cause it actually does.

finally, i'll agree with Utopia, Erin, Alex and the rest who do not approve, not my style to have any kind of fake tan including those dangerous solariums and self tanners.. anyway i'm off to the real thing for four days so i wont need the spray..
main , nightmarish seasonal problem is "the first two/three days on the beach" when i look as if i'm a ghost out of the grave and everyone else seems tanned already.. but i'll survive ..hiding behind a wide brim hat and this brand new pair of HUGE black shades i just bought :p

practically EVERYONE goes for a spray tan here
wether its Fantasy tan, Mystic tan, Jean paul mist on Tan, st stopez airport express tan etc etc
there are enormous variations of the same thing, you can find them on every corner

but fear not...........coming soon is the EPITAN which is a small injection of a hormone that makes your skin tanned for up to 6 months!
when its launched at the end of next year its set not only to help reduce skin cancer but also create billions worldwide through cosmetic use.
and the good thing is it is totally safe, as it is just a help for the natural process which occurs in our body's anyway
think of it like a diabetic person having injections of insilin.....it doesnt damage the body as it is something the body produces anyway

I've been thinking about the mystic tan, couple of my friends have had it and it looks great and then theres a couple of them who have it and they get all blotchy and stuff. Anyone have any experience with the mystic tan?

Acid, that sounds tempting.

Nothing beats a nice tan especially in the summer.

anyone remember the barbie pill thingy? makes you get tan, lose weight and raise your libido...

^ Acid, what hormone is it? I cant think of any that have to do with melanin deposits...

I think there'd be an OD in the UK  not to say I would turn down a hit of the tantastic tablet, then we would be less likely to be known as the 'crayfish' :shifty:

Bloody hell, anything you inject in yourself to make you a different colour sounds dodgy to me!

Guaranteed in a few years they'll find something hideously wrong with it just as they though smoking was good for you at the start of the century.:ninja:

Acid, epitan sounds really interesting. I know of the particular research institute where some of the clinical trials are being carried out and they have a very good name.

It sounds like a solid investment...some of our big banks are major shareholders.

I'd never do something like that in my skin, althought people say that it's safe and it doesn't damage your skin, I never believe it.
Here people is always obssessed with tan and spend several hours on the beach or in tanning beds, I can't understand why you have to punish your skin like that. If you're pale in the middle of July you're a freak, I can't stand that! But I'm very pleased with my pale skin I I wouldn't like to change it, a pale body also looks good in a swimsuit, why people can't never be happy whith what they have?

I've always been very aware of the skin problems and I feel bad when I see people damaging themselves:cry:
