Spring 2006 sales

re-barneys...

they take the final markdown at the very end...
but i can't say for sure...
it's usually pretty picked over by then...but sometimes it's worth going on the last day just to have a look...

when I signed in, there was no space avaiable. How can I fake my way in?

ugh, it was really awful this year, so you didnt miss much. (i had a feeling this would be the case since this year it only ran for like 4 days)
anyway, if you want my appointment for tomorrow at 11:00, pm me and ill give you my name to use. but id say its not really even worth it.

^ yea, i went today, nothing left but womens man style dress shoes and futuristic pantaloons.

i went to the barneys sale today, not too much for men...its all very...basic?

some highlights:
-black cloak leather and suede laceups (might go back for them)
-jil sander black belt with gold threading and a circle buckle (tiny size, i think it may be womens)

womens...
-prada metallic snakeskin sandals
-castaner espadrilles (2 for $50)
-TONS of lanvin, some really stunning stuff (if you are a size 38, you should pay a visit!!)
-some very nice beaded prada dresses & skirts

guys I need a little tips from you:

mr.caffeine went to the suit selection and tried on a few "long" suits...he is normally a size 42 but even when he put on a 46L the sleeves only hit his forearms...they totally look like 3 quarter length on him :ninja:
I noticed that he has very LONG arms (shirt size 15 1/2, 36 1/2) and it's normally difficult for him to buy nice designer clothes. But is it possible for him to have the sleeves taken out? (might need 3-4 inches more :ninja: ) - it doesn't sound realistic at all, but does he really have a chance to purchase a designer suit without going all the way to "made to measure"?

btw, the only suit he got was before college graduation from menswarehouse. I'd love to see him in nice suits now that he is no longer an engineer, but the suit shopping seems quite unlucky for us so far...any tips will be appreciated.

Perhaps custom tailoring is the way to go. He tried on a 46L and the suits didn't fit?

Caffine,

Did you see any Armani suits by chance? And if so, what were the prices like? My BF is actually a 42L and we've been considering making the trip up to NYC for the next sale. Did you happen to notice if there were many Long suits?

Sorry the suits don't fit Mr. Caffine, my BF is 6'2'' and luckily the L sizes fit him w/out alteration.

Thanks!

^There are many long suits. Not sure about brand but there are many Burberry suits. Why do you only want Armani suits? There are many suit makers who make better suits than Armani.

I was just asking about Armani because my SO saw some Armani suits and really liked them. He has a couple of Burberry suits already and some Italian suit by a brand that I can't remember.

Who do you suggest other than Armani? :flower:

Since most of the sales are over, when does fall/winter stuff start going on sale?

i dont know his style or anything, but at the barneys warehouse sale there were TONS of valentino suits.

does anyone know where the barney's warehouse sale clothing goes after the sales? i went a little nuts at the one in Los Angeles, but wimped out before purchasing a junya watanabe comme des garcons jacket...and have regretted it ever since!
