Hallucination

Hallucination, pièce vidéo inédite de Steven Klein, rassemble un panorama des séries de mode réalisées par le photographe de 2001 à 2010, au travers desquelles il peint le portrait d'une Amérique décadente et délabrée.

Enfant terrible de la photographie de mode, Steven Klein s'ingénie à fouler les chemins de traverse. Il est aujourd'hui sans conteste le photographe qui oppose avec le plus de constance une résistance créative à l'hégémonie du lisse. Dans les pages du Vogue américain ou français, ses séries de mode créent une zone de turbulences dans le paysage du magazine.
À l'état de décomposition de la société américaine, le photographe répond par des images composées, des tableaux où la couleur et la lumière ne cherchent pas la séduction facile. Au fil des pages, ses allégories baroques et noirs se déploient, incarnées par un modèle, qui chez Klein, ne pose pas mais joue. L'inclination du photographe pour l'image en mouvement, la narration et la performance, l'amènent à collaborer à plusieurs reprises avec Madonna, Brad Pitt, Bruce Willis, Tom Cruise, à l'occasion de séries de mode désormais culte, réalisées pour le magazine américain W.

Steven Klein a reçu une formation de peintre à l'École de Design de Rhode Island et a commencé sa carrière de photographe à Paris. Il collabore régulièrement avec Vogue US, Vogue Italia, et W et a réalisé de très nombreuses campagnes publicitaires notamment pour Alexander McQueen, Calvin Klein ainsi que Dolce & Gabbana.
