Steven Meisel Three Hundred and Seventeen & Counting : Vogue Italia Covers 1988 - 2009

I wonder if in 3 years we'll all be reminiscing about how wonderful the covers of 2010 were, when it appears that most people have been disliking the magazine this year.

Oh, we will. Fashion folk (especially here) are so fickle- always longing for the past and reminiscing on how good things "were". Sometimes I think it's a matter of an actual disinterest, if anything and if you really aren't interested, then well...?:P I agree with Jeremydante; VI has been experimenting a lot more lately and even though it may not always work the fact that any publication even dares to take risks impresses me. Sometimes to step forward, its necessary to step back or go overboard, and even have experiments that work against you. That said, I still support Vogue Italia.

 I agree. I always find that I appreciate Vogue Italia issues a few months after it has been published.

Sept 2008, one of my fav cover! I miss Viktoriya

looking at all of these, most of them are nice works, some are just classic.

To me, after 2005 the covers started to decline a little. Although 2007 was a great year. But there are still some covers that i love after that, like Coco - Apr/06, Agyness - Nov/06, Linda - Jun/08, Jan/09 and some others too. But seeing all the covers together really shows how great his work is and I love how clean and simple, yet striking, the Vogue Italia covers are.

ammon thank you for all the snapshots! I am loving your bedspread, it reminds me of the LV Damier canvas.

i stick behind what i said; even in the current days- these are greater covers than say, american vogue. there are more creative elements as we progress into the future. it's more theatrical now. which i really love. it's what has set italian vogue apart from the rest. no one brings it like steven meisel.

2010 is so, so different stylistically. It looks as if a different style era is resonated every month. Just think of how contemporary the November 2010 cover was, and how early millenium December feels. It's everywhere, but I love that about it.

Hey guys, a friend is going to USA in a couple of days and he wanted to get me this book. Does anybody know where are they selling it?
Thank you! :flower:

If someone has this book, first, I want to know the name of the male model with Heather Stohler (April 1998) and second, I want to see scans of this! It's been 10 years, it's not a crime posting the pictures here. By the way, 1989, 90, 96 and 2002 are incomplete.

The web site of the publisher Is Out, anybody knows were yo buy ir?

Correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't him her model boyfriend and both died tragically years later?

I didn't know. He appears in the D&G campaign of that year (I don't remember wich season, it looks a lot to the april 1998 main ed) and the 30th anniversary cover of L'Uomo, in the fold-out. And yeah, poor Heather. She was a very good model
