Stretch Marks

yeah; mine are also only when things are "squashed" as you say. haha. it's hard to explain. But with me it's when I ut my leg backwards or sth, then the ski gets pushed together and you can see all the lines.

Yep, that's exactly what I have. It looks so nasty.

and melange,I already know about all the facts you mentioned..thing is none of them applies to me..my body has been the same for the last 4-5 years,no bigger anywhere,no growth spurt..i'm 25:lol: and about the muscle, well,my activities have stayed exactly the same-exercise 3 times a week from I don't remember since when..and I do moisturize religiously everyday..
so you can imagine my horror when new ones appear..

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply you didn't know, it was just what you posted reminded me of annoying questions I have had about being fat or having been fat and I had a bit of a rant!

That is really strange. Are you sure your skin isn't trying to pull itself off of you? I honestly can't think of any other way you could be getting these stretch marks unless your exercise has added muscle and you haven't noticed because of it being a slow change. Though I think most people have pictures of themselves and would notice differences.

Exercise has REALLY helped fade mine. I know they can never really go away completely, but mine are SO much better. At this point, I think they've also faded with time. I'm only a teen and got them from being a competitive figure skater with big, muscular thighs!

^Wow! Figure skating did it to you.

Mine is just from inactivity. I'm sure the stretching won't go away completely even if I do work out, but I'm sure it'll fade them as skin gets tighter.

haha yup! I always use the elliptical trainer which really targets that part of your leg anyway (inner thigh for me), so it definitely helped to fade them. Consistency is the key though, seriously...if I haven't worked out for a week they look much more noticable!! Guess I should work out this week then.....

^^ I've been so on/off with working out. But I'm scared that if I lose weight, the skin that's been "stretched" will squash up together and look even more ugly. Because when I squeeze the muscle, I notice the scars just bunch up and look even more obvious. The skin has basically been damaged so it's not likely to tighten up is it? Or be smooth? :( I only gained 8-10 pounds and yet.... there are so many scars. It all happened so fast.

Bio oil! Ha... I tried that for a while and nothing happened, if anything they just keep getting worse! I'm not gaining any weight or losing any weight and they are appearing all over my thighs now :( How does this happen??? Ridiculous... there is no hope for me!

I started using bio oil 2 weeks ago and my skin totally broke out with really small, red pimples. Too bad I purchased 3 bottles....

anybody tried extreme measures of getting rid of stretch marks? like dermatology or skin resurfacing?

Some hope for us with mature white stretch marks:

In a 2007 clinical trial, 5-6 treatments resulted in striae improving by as much as 75 percent. A 2007 Brazilian clinical study showed that Fraxel improved both texture and appearance of mature, white striae in skin types I-IV.

I'm not sure what skin types I-V are but I hope in includes black people for my sake.

also....

So far, there is nothing but good news about Fraxel’s future in the war against stretch marks. It is expected to gain FDA approval for use in treating striae, and dermatologists across the country will be trained in the technique. Once that occurs, we should all be able to enjoy a day at the beach.

:cry::cry:
im only fifteen and my legs/bum/bottom of back are covered in deep purple ones! :(
i refuse to let anyone see my legs because it makes me feel sick!

ive tried cocoa butter and oils! I dont know what to do! Im going on a med cruise in the summer, and to florida in october and i really wanna go swimming!

i have them on my lower thighs and hips. from growing too fast. I'm only 17.

Is it true that many many models have them? They are so tall and grow so quickly. its only natural...

ok this is what it did, I unfortunately have them too, I use Vaseline Cocoa Butter and I poured vitamin E oil in the cream, looks like its working because i don't see the ugly purple color, I think it helped to heal the mark....

Oh God... Stretch marks... my worse ennemy.

I am thin, but I used to be a scary-thin child and when I started to grow up the dreaded stretchmark appeared. I have curvy hips, I guess that's why I have some on my hips, but it's not so bad now because they got really pale. But I have LOADS of them on my inner thighs, and there are pink, so ugly...

I feel so self conscious! I can't even look at my thighs, or if I do I start crying.

I also noticed a few months ago that I'm starting to get new ones on my inner thighs... Ohhhh.... The worse thing is that my weight doesn't fluctuate and I'm using coconut oil everyday day after showering...

I don't know what to do, I'm so upset, I can't even see myself going to the beach anymore.

I talked to my dermatologist and he told me he could try laser. He said it's expensive (40-50 euros per stretch mark) and he said we could try to laser one to see if it's working on me. I'll keep you updated if I try that... I'm so upset about them I don't mind spending money. :(
