Stretch Marks

Yes, supermodels have them too. Jessica alba has some on her boobs.. and that R& B singer..ashanti has it on her buttocks. However, these places you can surely cover up. I have it on my love handles and back of my legs.. i can't wear skirts for life!! and its soo embarassing wearing a 2 peice bikini wen u have them on ur love handles. I have them on my buttocks too which im not too embarassed about..but MY LOVE HANDLES!!!:'( i hate them cuz its as though ive been pregnant or something.

ANyways, fraxel laser...i called in a clinic and the receptionist told me straight up that the patients that come in for stretch marks only see a 30% improvement. However, ive read that if you use it in combination with some other treatments.. u'd get up to around 75%. (not sure how good the sources are). Ive seen on youtube excellent results from fraxel (not sure if they did it in conjunction to other treatments and it televised on a news broadcast).

I don't know much about it but my friend was told by her dermatologist that she had what looked like stretch marks but weren't actually striae?

Maybe yours aren't striae either?

Regardless, the fact that you don't care is awesome, that's for sure!

Hm...I had never considered that they may just be striae. I mean when I was 12 I started taking up a lot of dancing, horse riding and work-outs mainly concentrating on my thighs...so a lot of build up in muscle mass occurred...maybe that's what caused them? It's the only explanation I can think of, because not to sound full of myself here, but I am not a big person at all...I only weigh 6st 7ibs, so too much weight gain can't be the reason right? lol.

I used to care when I was big on becoming a model in my early teens, because I saw it as an imperfection that just had to go! but now that I am 18...and know for a fact I probably won't be growing any more, there is no chance of me becoming a model at 5"2

So anyways.. im having one of those bad days.. frustrated about my stretch marks.. baaaaaaaa.. they definately consume me.

Update on my chemical peels.. hmm.. so i've done 5 treatments with chemical peels that were not really THAT penetrating.. so.. it was the like of a glycolytic peel.. it made my stretch marks less deep, but i can't help myself.. i can still see them.. even tho they've faded a lot.

I NEED FRAXEL. Hey, justlooking.. y was ur dermatologist not enthused by fraxel? hmm.. perhaps these ppl dont know how to do fraxel well? Im not sure.. i've heard that if u do it in combination with other treatments like microdermabrasian, it helps w/ results. U know wat i need.. i need to get in contact w/ whoever did that amazing fraxel procedure on youtube...w/ the post-pregnant lady.

^ Because fraxel doesn't guarantee results but is expensive- the cost/effect factor, i guess. They say, maximum 75% but really, could be just 50% or less. He's into a higher rate of satisfaction i think which i thought was interesting seeing as he's located in a kind of flashy place.

Glycolytic peel...your results sound relatively good, although i realise you're not satisfied. I totally get what you mean about feeling frustrated though!

Do you have a link for the pregnant lady?

I might book in soon but he's pretty booked out, so I'll see what happens i suppose! : p

:O.. are you getting fraxel done? LUCKY!!. So i emailed one of the offices in toronto.. they're saying that w/ fraxel.. you'll get about 50% improvement, but the white marks still remains. HOwever, i'm seeing amazing results on youtube... that was a clip of newsbroadcast. Ill link it up.

Ok this link is about affirming laser.. which apparently is the newest technology and more advanced than fraxel:

http://www.youtube.com/user/anhphan#p/a/f/1/5-caWRtx358. another good link for pre and post treatment pics.. look at before and afters of fraxel!!.. the last one is AMAZING...altho the affirming laser sounds very pleasing as well.. SHRINKING of stretchmarks? dammmm.. i need that.

ive never heard of this technique.. perhaps its new:

What does Fraxel do for stretch marks? I'm unfamiliar. I don't really have stretch marks too bad.

there are different types of fraxel.. so im not exactly sure what the differences are between them. However, if i can recall correctly, they somehow help you regenerate collagen in that area.. so that its less dented and it stimulates the healing. So, im guessing it has to damage the area first to stimulate healing and collagen production. Ask you dermatologist or google it. This is only from what i recall..but then again.. ive read lots about diff procedures so i can be mixed up w/ other procedures.

I have them on my tighs. At first, they were red/purple, but now they're white. You can see them if you look closely, but i think almost every girl/woman has them, so i don't mind...

Yes, many women do have stretch marks, including the beautiful Beyonce. I have heard that TCA peels also help stretch marks. Not sure if this is true.

^i am about the same skin tone as beyonce and ive got the same white marks in the same area except they go all the way down my thighs and ive got more on my inner thighs :(

its really gross and ive read theres nothing that can be done to fade them. im not overweight but ive done alot of yo-yo weight gain-loss, so i guess im paying for it with stretch marks.

I believe TCA peels as well as laser (some were talking about Fraxel on here) can fade/eliminate them. Do some research.

hmm.. her stretch marks dont even look like stretch marks really.. they're soo shallow. Maybe she did try to get rid of them w/ no results? iono... lasers work better on people w/ lighter skin.

I heard that lasers only work if they're still pink?
I used to be a lot heavier, and I have terrible stretch marks on my hips/"love handles", but after years they're now white. It's aggravating because I now have a body that I could wear a bikini in..but I've got these big stretch marks!

well.. u can almost completely eliminate them w/ lasers if they're still pink. It just works better on pink stretch marks because its still healing. But apparently fraxel lasers can work on white marks as well.. just not as well.

I have stretch marks on my butt since I was 12-13. At the time I didn't know what they were and did nothing to them, but now I regret not doing anything about them when they were fresh. I don't even remember getting the red/pink ones, I just remember that they were white from the beginning.

I would love to get them lasered off. :(

I dont think it will go away easily even with laser treatments most of these before and after pics you find on internet are pretty much photoshoped.

If you go to dermatologist they will probably first prescribe Retin-A cream and 70% Glycolic acid once or twice a week before they move on to Laser.

Fraxel laser basically causes teeny tiny abrasions in the skin, and the skin reacts by producing more collagen, which in theory will heal old stretch marks. I became obsessed with the idea of getting the stretch marks off my breasts last year (never get to wear low cut tops 'cause I'm so self conscious!) and did some researching & came across derma dollers which is the same idea as a fraxel laser-its a little roller with really thin, fine needles that you roll across your stretch marks and they cause microscopic "injuries" to the area and cause the collagen cycle to kick start.

I used it on my breasts where I've had stretch marks since adolescence, and after using it 5-6 times, saw about a 30% improvement in them. So it's totally worth it. You can find the derma rollers on ebay.

I've gotten lazy about it lately, but after reading this will defo start using it again
