I'm in the process of moving and found this orphan in one of my many folders! From allure magazine September 1993, Mary Ellen Mark shot by equally inspiring, and immensly talented photographer Manuela Pavesi


Incredible eye behind the lens and in front!


"Photographer Mark thinks of travel and work as inseparable. How she dresses for an assignment in Calcutta is how she dresses for the flight home: in dark colors and loose‑fitting pants and knit tops, her long, wiry hair restrained in a single braid. Like many professional observers, she cultivates anonymity, but not at the expense of style. "I'm addicted to Japanese designers," she says, finding their clothes to be "classic and modern at the same time." Mark, who's used to shouldering around her Leica, likes bags that free up her hands: a canvas tote that converts to a backpack and, for valuables, a leather waist pouch. Into that goes her most prized beauty tool‑a Koh‑l‑Noor wooden comb for her flyaway mane."

Bella Freud at home shot by Perry Ogden for Harper's Bazaar January 2000

She wears her own eponymous label with Stephane Kelian shoes with her own bag, hat and bag. Adore this woman. Love the way her punk, reggae youth passions shaped her look and how it comes through in unexpected ways in her adult wardrobe. She's the master of mixing/matching, layering and maximizing new and old favorite pieces in her wardrobe.

Can anyone kindly translate the French or Japanese text?

I love Johanna's style. Her high low mix reminiscent of typical French urban hipster momma: Vanessa Bruno, Isabel Marant, Paul & Joe, APC, See by Chloe plus Kookai, Zadig & Voltaire, Antik Batik, GAP, Moschino, Chucks & Nike. Great taste in music too boot: Carla Bruni, Bob Marley & Lou Reed.
