Suvi Koponen + Édith Piaf

Loved by many but well-known by few, Edith Piaf and her persona remained a mystery to most people throughout her entire life in spite of her huge popularity. Truth is that in many ways, luck was never on Édith's side. Born on the street in Paris, abandoned by her mother, raised by prostitutes and blind in her younger years, she did not have a regular nor easy childhood.
But life did not get easier for Piaf after she rose to popularity. She led a life with many, random lovers, she lost her only child as well as she fell to substance abuse.
And maybe that is why Piaf always kept on singing about the darker sides of life - about things such as heartache, tragedy and poverty. From her pictures you can tell in her eyes that this is a person who lived a hard life and it was always evident in her voice. These pictures of both Édith and Suvi perfectly illustrate the melancholy that described la vie de la môme Piaf so well.

Marcel with Julia---Everything about this is perfect! Julia is completely emanating kate moss, the lacy top and the suspenders and high waisted trousers is basically spot-on. I like the look in her eyes and the nonchalance that comes with being surrounded by photogs. You combined these two miraculously. I’m impressed!

Nextnewface with Tanya—While Tanya is lacking the smile that is usually plastered all over agyness’s face, I love how you did this. I know it would be tough to have a current model imitate a current model, but Tanya definitely made the transformation! This is kooky and eclectic and veeery agyness.

Hfgl with caroline-- I love where you made the connection between gisele and caroline! But, you’re completely right. They’ve got the tans, the hair, the boobs, and the attitude! You did a great job pulling these together…the similarity is uncanny!

Manuva with Lara—What I like about your entry is that it’s more subtle than the rest. It’s not a direct copy of a certain picture of carine, but it’s more about the attitude. Lara has the look and the edge…especially with that cuff to pull off the carine. You did an amazing job!

Larien with Irina—Anna Piaggi is crrrrazy!! You did a good job of capturing the crazy…the makeup and the quirky suit…but this does not blow me away. I mean, I cant help but feel like…you couldn’t find a cray enough picture of irina and just said…that she tried to dress up like her but couldn’t. I just don’t feel like you took this to its full potential

Karin with Natasha—perfect! The look on her face…IS karl. I’ve never seen this side of Natasha, and you proved to me that she can completely transform..once again. There is an unspoken similarity between these two….you did an amazing job with this!

Moofins with Andi---I am in love with this entry. The Britney picture you showed just…really made it perfect. I love the goofy attitude here, and the suspenders and the wigs and the really exaggerated element to this just is AMAZING! Fabbbbulous work.

Marvystone with Malgosia—There is an ethereal quality to your entry that perfectly captures the spirit of the virgin suicides! The yearning in malgosia/lux’s eyes …yearning for something more. This entry is practically emotional! I’m proud, you did an incredible job!

Rachyroo with Magda---these two photos were made for each other! You captured a very important element of mk’s life in your picture of magda…and its as if magda IS mary kate. You did a perfect job, no doubt about it!

missDIOR with luize—Luize looks amazing, and this is such a throwback to that picture of Audrey! I absolutely get where you were going with this, and I think it was magnificentl executed. Great work!

Tbj with Georgia—This one can’t have been easy to put together…but I am blown away! Georgia’s rocknroll attitude with a complete nonchalance is what john Galliano is all about. I love it

Mafiosa with Anja—I think its cool that you chose one of his films as inspiration for this entry, and I can completely see a scene in the movie having this shot of anja in this. The melancholy, and yet beauty is perfect to heath and his character in brokeback mountain.

Mr-Dale with Coco—I have never seen this ed of coco’s! I had no idea how you(or anyone) was going to choose to interpret frida kahlo and I love that you took the literal approach! This is just exciting and modern and fun. You did an excellent job.

Manette with mariya-- This is a brilliant interpretation of Anna’s devilish ways! You did an incredible job, and this reminds me of that movie shallow hal, where hal can see the true person beneath the façade. You revealed Anna! Mariya looks great. Good work.

Mette with Edith—There’s no doubt about it that this is striking and beautiful and haunting. You nailed this one. I’m impressed and have nothing but praise for you and suvi and this entry!

Masq with Raquel—I don’t know how the judges are eliminating anyone this week This entry is amazing! Educational, beautiful, androgynous, fierce. You made this work. Im totally impressed.
