Tatler July 2007 : Emma Watson

No images to post from my subscrip copy - too fatigued to take any - but on the cover of a very thin issue is Harry Potter actress Emma Watson (Hermione), in white. No more new ads than the July UK Vogue contains, apart from a 1 pg pre-fall Armani one. Also, no feature about the life of the late-departed Isabella Blow, which I was expected. Hopefully that's because they're making sure they do a good one for the August issue. Full review to come on Thursday.

Just because she wears Chanel Couture (badly) doesn't mean she should be on the cover of Tatler.
And, I'm shocked there's no Isabella Blow feature, I would have thought she should have had the cover.

That would have been really great; the woman deserves a tribute although I'm sure there will be.

The Sunday Times Style supplement, which she also worked for, ran a tribute to her, with recollections from staff, so I'm expecting no less than a proper feature from Tatler, with a look back at her life's work.

Editorials:
HEIRESS CHIC is an 8 pg poolside edit where blonde Yvonne @ Mega Model Agency wears elegant swimwear and shirtdresses in a vaguely 1930's way. Shot by Magnus Mogensen.

Daryl Hannah is SEX ON LEGS in a 6 pg outdoors edit shot by Sean & Seng, where she wears "PVC, patent leather, studs and vixen heels" in a rustic location, though it's not slick enough to be sexy, there's no hint of danger, and the edit is too damn short to lead anywhere.

Overall:
Thin and dull, although the article about beautiful faces has to be the most interesting article I've ever read in Tatler. I was aware of the theory, but in this article, a plastic surgeon applies the rules to a variety of faces - Kate Moss, Jemima Goldsmith, Liz Hurley, Sienna Miller, Posh Spice and Camilla.

She actually doe'sn't look that bad...

She's not a bad-looking lass, but she's no beauty, and you can see it when she's standing beside someone like Mischa Barton. She has a sideways smirk to her mouth which is a little distracting in candid shots. But its not her job to be 100% perfect and I don't see her pretending to be a part-time fashion model - she's a young actress who gets on with being an actress.

Emmy's very pretty, but that little smirk she has kind of ruins her face. i don't think she realizes she does it, it's just one of those little habits you're not very aware of.
