Tattoos

^ you should go for it, but just remember that celebrities like angelina can get away with visible tattoos because of her appeal,
but i think when it's just normal non-famous people you really have to defend them in work places etc. for the rest of your like you know..
thats the only thing stopping me atm, but i still want them!

Thanks. I'm kind of a big deal in my own mind ^_^. I was referring more to the celebs ability to remain classy looking with tattoos, which I think would still be true for famous and "non-famous" people. And I've forever ruled out jobs that won't allow them, because I plan on focusing on more entrepreneurial tracks involving art and design. I've also chosen maybe upper-inner arm or right below the crook placement. So, if I ever choose to bite that lead bullet, and join the corporate forces they'll be well hidden.

I've always wanted a tattoo, but was always afraid of social stigmatization (from the older gen and my own mother), regrets, and lack of classiness. However, all over my campus there are girls who look uber classy and have visible ink. Audrina Partridge from the Hills, Angelina Jolie, and Megan Fox are celebs who keep it classy on the red carpet with tats! Naturally, I'm convinced that they can go with any aesthetic and still look nice. I now am positive that I will never want to work in corporate America and will get them places that can both be hidden and displayed.

No offence, but i don't think you can call Megan Fox "Classy" :D

im so confused about getting a tatt now. does anyone know where i can get pics of old school roses? if u go in to get a tatt done can u ask the artist to draw up something that u have in mind? but dont know how to put it into a pic? like a word with a rose? (i know that sounds so dumb)

You can ask the artist to draw something for you, but I think that costs more money.

I love the first one. I have always liked rose tattoos.

Esperanza - you can find tons of tattoos on checkoutmyink.com.

^ Always good to look around and bring references of what kinds of things you want in the tattoo and the artist can make sense of it all for you Esperanza.

I'm a believer in having them draw up something or tweak even if its a "classic" just because picking something off the wall just means someone has the exact thing. Yeah you can find a lot of people with classic roses, but its all different in their own way if you make it your own.

BMEZINE has a lot of galleries of flash art and also galleries of peoples tattoos separated by type- youll find lots of classic roses in the "old school" gallery and some various types in the "flower and nature" section.

You can even look up pics of tattoos on flickr. I have found some great stuff there in the past! Good luck with your search.

So my roommates boyfriend is an amazing tattoo artist! So he did this Banksy piece for me a few hours ago on the side of my arm..I know that a lot of people have it but this really means a lot to me.:flower:B)

I love Banksy also! Loved how he turned that balloon into a heart.

I've been thinking about getting a tree on my lower back shoulders, kind of near
the ribcage. A small bonsai tree, or a paulownia tree.

lmelanie, its absolutely breathtaking.. this boyfriend did an amazing work, he truly has a gift..

anyone's watching Miami Ink or LA Ink? i have mixed feelings when it comes to this. some of their tattoos are really bad. i dont know if its only my oppinion though

^ugh those shows are horrible, sure some of the artists are talented or whatever but now the majority of the public thinks that every tattoo must have some deep symbolic and most likely tragic story behind it. Very few of my tattoos(or my husbands' or friends) mean anything at all and trying to explain to some douche who watches too much tv that my tattoos don't mean anything and are just there to give me a giggle is really frustrating. :P Blah, sorry, had to get that off my chest.

^ Its as much meaning as you want it to be.

Giving you a giggle is meaning enough for you to own such tattoos.

Everyone has a valid reason to do what they want to their body and express whatever. It doesnt have to be "deep".

I personally have a long meaning and symbols but thats because that is what drew me in to design and what I wanted it to convey to me but that is my personal choice and discovery.

Shows are good and bad for tattoos.

I think it helps with the overall acceptance of tattoos being mainstream and the stories show some really normal looking people who some might think dont look like "tattoo people" and can open peoples minds to that its not just tattoo artist and bikers and gangers that all kinds of people have them. Some it skews their perception in the other way like you said, some people dont understand people who just get tattoos for what they feel like is no apparent reason as all they see are "deep" tattoos and think those are the only ones that are valid.
