1.-Wie viel Zeit hatte ich im Leben schon damit (sounds more idiomatic if you use "damit" (=with it), no "mich" whatsoever needed in this case )verbracht, fernzusehen? (one word, otherwise it'd mean that you can see far (does "to see far" even exist? I hope you get what I mean )

-Die Lehrerin hält ihn für einen wunderbaren Studenten.

2. "Ich sorge um mich" means almost the same as the first sentence, you'd rather say "für than "um".
"Ich sorge mich um mich" = I worry about me.
The verb is "sich um jmd. sorgen"
ex.: "Er sorgt sich um dich" would mean "He worrys about you".

4. both yes again, but I have to add that "fehlschlagen" is a rather complicated word and can't be used in all cases, can't think of a rule though.

5. It's unclear whether the school halved in size as in m²/buildings... or students.

Yes, and "What is your phone number" would be "denwa bango wa nan ban desu ka"

And "Hello (when in a phone conversation)" will be "mushi mushi", the i's are pronounced briefly so they sound more like "mush mush"

Well, Japanese is considered a phonetic language imo, read what you see. Something like Italian, I guess....

and "n" before a consonant is pronounced like the French "n"
it's a sort of nasal sound

also "n" at the end of a word is pronounced the same way
