I didn't say Vogue Paris was perfect, I just said it was more creative and fresh, whereas US Vogue is quite boring.

Darling, we're not talking about sheer distribution SIZE here, although size does matters in the eyes of the american CEO, but usually if u try to please everyone, u ended up dragging yourself down the pit, aka looking CHEAP, which is what Vogue US are like these days.........
Vogue is about leading their loyal readers at the forefront of fashion, not walking behind the readers for christ sakes. and for that Vogue Italia comes up TOP, hands down.

Vogue US has always reigned supreme, it's always the magazine to see, it doesn't matter if Vogue Italia is edgy, I know that fashionistas love Vogue Italia but unfortunetly there aren't fashionistas enough as to name Vogue Italia the bible of the fashion.

I used to like Caroline Trentini. But since Anna insists on shoving her down our throats, I've come to dislike her. Anna probably thinks that by always having the same girls, they'll become familiar and people will like them, but really it has created the opposite effect (not for everyone...I'm just speaking in personal opinion, of course).

I'm curious, what do you guys think is the real reason Anna keeps handing Trentini a Vogue paycheck over and over?

Is it because Anna's found someone who appeals to the massess: she's a normal (not strange), white-looking (Brazillian but could pass for white), reasonably shaped (not overly thin and definitely not fat), non threatening (she's no Cindy and she's no Hana) kind of girl?

Or is it because she's just plain lazy? Or is afraid to rock the boat with a new face?

Natalia Vodianova was another such "editorial capitalizing" girl, but even she didn't last this long. Karolina Kurkova held the reign for a while, but she was out of there way faster. Carmen Kass was another favorite but like Kurkova and Vodianova, her reign was limited. As far as queens go, Trentini has first place. Why? Is it even worth analyzing? I'm just soooo curious.

Back in the day there were Vogue girls, who did little but appear in Vogue. It seems Caroline is a latter day Vogue girl. Plus, she is not so pretty she is a star everyone wants so they can pretty much have her if they want to without too much competition. At the same time she has an astonishing body - which epitomizes the Vogue ideal, of course. Btw, it is far from reasonable and, in fact, very unreasonable (perfectly shaped feminine hips, legs TNE, insane breasts, perfect waist - and it is quite obvious nothing has been surgically enhanced). She also seems quite business like and representative of the Vogue ideal, mentally. She just doesn't really have the best face out there - although she's pretty - but Vogue is primarily about fashion, not beauty. I rather resent that, btw, since I think they go hand in hand - always have, always should. But that's the CN philosophy with Allure and Vogue.

Btw, "Brazilian but could pass for white" - All "races" exist in Brazil, it's a melting pot. Caroline is of Italian and German heritage.

I think that was a daring choice on Carine's part to pick Paris...

Is Paris even well liked in Europe? I thought most of the Euro jet set had shunned her...even while she was with Stavros...which I think helped in getting her the cover.

I really don't think that you need to know s**t about photography to realize that every seasonal editorial has the same set, models, shots and overall aesthetic.

I don't know if you don't need to know s**t (what is s**t? ) about photography but what I'm sure you need is to learn to read well 'cause I wrote about TRENDS in photography, not photography.

Vogue US has always been that way, In the 80's the most of the covers were close-ups of models, the same set, the same aestethic ... so what? it was still of the queen of the magazines. your lack of knowledge is evident.

It's overly simple to say "well just don't buy it" because a) I'm sure plenty of th people who are complaining wont buy it and b) Vogue has a reputation to live up to and stale, boring, derivitive covers/editorials month after month don't do the legacy of the magazine any justice at all.

I don't think Anna Wintour is worried about that, US Vogue is still the best selling fashion magazine. B)

^^I think Spike read what you wrote fine. In fact, I think his response was intelligent, coherent and had valid points to back up what he was trying to say. He didn't just take bits and pieces of your post and use them to make himself sound smarter, he actually had something relevant to say.

Now, I understand that you don't like people complaining about models and things of that nature, but what do you expect? This is a fashion forum. I remember a great post from awhile back, I think tigerrouge wrote it, which talked about how most TFS'ers view magazines. For the average person, they might flip through a magazine, think a picture is pretty and then toss it aside until it's time to recycle it, for alot of us here on TFS, it's so much more than. I collect magazines and sometimes I spend a little bit more for a great editorial or cover of model that I really like. You don't have to understand that because this is what I like to do. I'm not sure why you let thinsg like thos bother you.

Anyways, I guess what I'm trying to say is this: If you were on a celebrity focused board and the people were complaining about yet another jumping editorial or the lack of models on this magazines cover, I would understand your frustration; but considering you are on forum where one of the most active parts of it is the Supporting Cast section, I'm wondering why it shocks you so much that people are so interested in seeing models over celebrities? Is it really a surprise that we want to see something a bit frsher. Nobody is expecting a complete shuffle, but maybe, I don't know...a sitting editorial instead of jumping....Small steps.

I didn't say I buy it looking for something complicated. I realize that US Vogue is targeting a specific market and they're not interested in being avant garde or edgy. There can be a balance though. Look at Harper's Bazaar: Beautiful editorials, wider range of models (they have their favorites, but they also know that less is more) and interesting articles to read. Yes, maybe Vogue sees it as "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" , but there doesn't have to be a complete turn over to make it just a tad more interesting. I'm not saying that it's a bad magazine, it could just use some variety. They seemed to be moving in that direction in the May issue, (The Inez and Vindooh editorial with Doutzen and Raquel was GORGEOUS!) but have now gone back to the same old formula.

god, I hated that editorial and as far as I know it is the worst selling month this year so I guess the average buyer don't like the pretentious and overated work of I&V Vogue US is more Arthur Elgort , Demarchelier , Penn

Well, pretentious and overrated is your opinion, which you are entitled to, but what's wrong with something fresh? I mean, come on, the jumping studio shots can be cute, but seeing them in every issue is redundant.

I wasn't aware that this issue was a low selling one, but keep in mind that it was May and one of the thinner ones, so it's not all that surprising.
