kirsten dunst looks so matronly- i think helen mirren looks hotter than her!

Agreed. Kirsten usually is pretty well dressed but I think that is for more casual occasions. She totally rocks those but I have never seen her in an above par red carpet number.

Media sources need to stop quoting Penelope's dress as Versace.

But it is. She said on E! to Ryan that it's Versace. It must be from their muppet carpet collection for Versace homewear.

Why's everyone saying Penelope's dress is Versace.

Wasn't it confirmed it's custom made Dior?

LOS ANGELES - She might have been the belle of the Academy Awards ball, but Jennifer Hudson seemed a shoo-in to wind up on the night's "worst dressed" list.

Hudson, the favorite to win best supporting actress for her show-stopping role as Effie White in "Dreamgirls," made quite an interesting sartorial statement Sunday night: a metallic python bolero over a floor-length brown gown by Oscar de la Renta, picked out by Vogue's Andre Leon Talley.

"I love you, but there's too much going on here," said fashion critic and E! commentator Jay Manuel as he deconstructed the bolero jacket on television. (By the way, he was no where near Miss Hudson when he said that.)

Simon Cowell had kinder words for Hudson, an "American Idol" also-ran. "We are rooting for you, and I have a feeling that you're going to win tonight," he said in a taped statement, played for Hudson by E! red-carpet correspondent Ryan Seacrest, who is also the host of the Fox talent show.

"I've never seen him that heartfelt. Have you?" Seacrest asked Hudson.
"No," she replied. "Is he OK?"
