Penelope Cruz – As far as I am concerned, the best dressed of the event! And the way she moved in that dress… The colour, very difficult to pull on virtually everybody, made her face look brighter and warmer at the same time. Excellent hair, simply THE choice with such a busy dress and on top of it all, the Chopard diamonds…

i absolutely agree

I was really suprised by all the long straight hair. it looked so 90's, not a fan

Diane Kruger is the best dressed of the whole oscars, god that woman cant go wrong!
also love zoeye, chloe and marissa and natalie-but i find their cocktail dresses are bit underdressed for the event
natalia looks gorge
and please some1 tell madonna it's not hot looking like a horse/man on steroids

finally awake after seeing the oscars last night/this morning.

Red carpet:
favs:
-Cate
-Rachel
-Gwynneth
-Emily
-Hellen (she was beaming)
Dunno:
-Eva
-Nicole (liked it on her, but it reminded me of some sort of christmas present)
-Reese
Urg:
-Sally Kirkland
-Jada
-Beyoncé (she could have done a lot worse though)
-Cameron (No No No No! Paperlike dress and too orange skin)

Show:
-Ellen did great as host.
-Why are all Oscar songs so terrible? I know Beyoncé and the others can sing, so why are they just screaming all the time? My ears hurt.
-Want to see Pan's Labyrint, had never even heard of it before, but it looks great!
-Marty finally got his oscar, and his film for best movie too. There was a moment, when you saw him standing alone just beside the scene/backstage after he had won his oscar, watching the producer of his movie getting an oscar. Such a touching moment! :)

gawd....I can't seem to remember much because I was so tired...
but overall the show seemed simpler than the other years...

thanks evryone for the photos:flower:
quite a nice year for the Oscars stylistically (i don't care about the actual awards:p )

I think Reese,Maggie,Gwyneth and Eva were the best dressed.
Maggie's dress is gorgeous,I love the blue/black combination.
I also loved Rachel weisz's dress but her make-up was too harsh.
Emily Blunt was her usual gorgeous self.
Cate Blancett was elegant but a bit bland imo.
Jodie Foster and Ann Hathaway looked lovely.

The worst were (not surprisingly) Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson.
Kirsten Dunst's dress was ugly imo.I love her style and think she could do much better.
I also hate Penelope's dress.

The best dressed person last night was the costume designer for Marie Antoinette, she was so chic in her tux. Maybe le smoking?

yes! She was so chic and simple. a contrast to the sea of flowing gowns

In my opinion Eva Green and Nicole Kidman were the best dressed. Also loved Cate Blanchett and Emily Blunt!

My best dressed list

Penélope Cruz(John Galliano for Dior)-Just look at the way the dress seems to flow on her and dance.

Jennifer López(Marchesa)- The fact she's an average actress can't prejudice me against this gorgeous dress.

Rinko Kikuchi- The girl has an "it" factor, look at her fantastic silhouette. The jewellery is so pretty and surtout the ring.Perphaps the best dressed of the night.

Emmy Rossum- The Grecian style is awesome on her, the hair pins are super delicate and her hair looks very pretty and suits the dress. Very pretty indeed.

Helen Mirren deserves a big round of applauses, what a body! I

Kirsten Dunst in Chanel- I know many will disagree but she looks so "belle époque" and details of the dress and uttery gorgeous. I think the problem is the size, looks to big on her.

^Cruz's dress was Versace.

And I agree about Kirsten's dress. I thought it was a rather brave choice, and it suited her very well.

OMG.

Penelope Cruz's dress is a modified version of the one that SJP wore on the finale of Sex and the City.

hbo.com and people.com

wasn't sjp's sex in the city gown by alexander mcqueen?

from wwd...

After six weeks of parties, award shows and hoopla, the actual Academy Awards almost seemed an anticlimax.

The stars toed the line on Sunday, with barely an inch of wiggle room. Skintight, razor-sharp strapless sheaths in every color of the rainbow dominated the red carpet. But when everyone starts looking the same, it borders on becoming the dreaded s-word: Safe.

Of course, there were a few standouts, such as Cate Blanchett"s head-to-toe crystal column from Armani Privé, which she described as "gladiatorial goddess. It"s so heavy, it"s giving me a workout"; Maggie Gyllenhaal"s asymmetric satin swath over one shoulder from Proenza Schouler; Kate Winslet"s mint green number from Valentino and Helen Mirren in Christian Lacroix Couture.

Beyoncé had so many stones sewn to the front of her Armani Privé gown that she broke her bling habit and forsook jewelry altogether. "Well, I am a bit out of my element with all these movie stars. It"s intimidating," she said.

Those brave enough to take risks drew both cheers and jeers: Kirsten Dunst"s "Peter Pan"-meets-"Alice in Wonderland" Chanel Couture, Cameron Diaz sticking to her Golden Globes color scheme in all-white Valentino, and Jennifer Hudson in Oscar de la Renta with a silver python bolero. But Hudson was happy, no matter what anyone else thought. "I"m here and I"m rockin" it," she said.

If only there was more chutzpah like Hudson"s. Even fashion-lover Nicole Kidman failed to appear excited about her dramatic red Balenciaga gown. "I don"t know," she sighed when asked why she chose the dress. "I"m not very good about describing these things. I just like it."

The cold, cloudy weather didn"t help lift the mood, which seemed as flat as many of the stars" hair. When Reese Witherspoon arrived, the crowd cheered wildly. Witherspoon was of the actresses who combined the evening"s two trends in her Nina Ricci gown by Olivier Theskyens — slim on top with a spiral ruffle, hers reminiscent of a purple calla lily on the bottom.

Perhaps the Oscars are all in a day"s work now, but at least Gyllenhaal was savoring the moment. "I"m just excited to be here. It"s all so much fun — if you can remember to take deep breaths."

^No, I'm certain it was Versace.

From hbo.com:

Episode 93: "An American Girl in Paris (Part Une):
Carrie - Int. Room (22): Dress: Seafoam 1000 layer Versace gown; Shoe: Bronze Gucci multi strap heel
