The 90s Comeback

i love that first kate ad, i remember seeing it in magazines EVERYWHERE. i kind of like overalls, ain't gunna lie.

^as long as the guys refrain from wearing overalls... that is one look i really, really detest!

   stella- mayfair!!!
especially with one strap down and no shirt underneath.
sadly, it's still a hot item in some parts of the USA!

When I think of the early 90's:

Scoop neck, drop waist black dresses with some bright floral pattern.
Tattoo Leggings in floral
Patent Leather flats with huge sheer bows for laces
Black leggings
Ripped , Very Faded Levi's in shorts or jeans.
Toast of New York Lipstick from Revlon!
Pale Skin
Thin Bodies
Thin Eyebrows

I'm just hoping that with a 90's comeback (because every other decade has been squeezed out till it's last drop) fashion trends will actually continue on into the 2000's and we'll eventually see some new and exciting clothes for once.

hate to say it but i told you so! i think i had 2 threads involving this closed...months ago...because it was too vague of a trend...

someone needs to post the FLy Girls from In Living Color and that is exactly what was going on! in every part of the US

oh god. no scrunchies please. that's the only thing i protest. well. not the only thing.

Reminds me of SATC.
There are still women in my town who wear scrunchies. :ninja:
This will never end. Face it!

Kate Moss on that ad are the true 90s for me, I was a teen back then and this style was everywhere and was quite liberating that overt sexiness was out of fashion. We really did use the boyfriend's jeans not this new sanitized version of women's clothes that are meant to be "boyish". Maybe that's why everyone thinks now they were horrible.

The second half of the 90s is better forgotten.

ah, what fortuitous timing. I'm just doing a paper on designer fashion consumerism in the 90's. It's 20 pages and due on Monday. eek!

meg you should post it!

cheyqua, i had shoulder padded, double breasted blazers in 8th grade, worn with men's denim cut off shorts, black tights and patent leather jazz shoes with HUGE sheer bows for laces.
Very Paula Abdul.
Of course with multiple scrunchies!!

i wish all the period trends would just die. In fact, i think there was a thread floating around titled "the death of the period trends". Am I wrong?
