The All About Feet Thread

^ I have never had much luck with foot creams. They don't seem to do... anything.

Anyone know how to get rid of those calluses that form on toe knuckles?? Is there another word for them?? I've got long toes, and wearing heels has formed these. Would love any tips!

i've got the same problem. i got those calluses from wearing pointy shoes as my toes are relatively long, too.

when i was really bad, i got a medical pedicure but the lady could not remove everything of it as i had already developed a litte ossification due to my toes being pressed together in those kind of heels. :ninja:

i finally went to a surgeon who has specialised on feet and he told me that there are two opinions to get rid of that thing:
1. stop wearing shoes that damage your feet and especially pay attention that the toe box is wide enough.
2. get a surgery to shorten your toes so that you will fit in any kind of shoe.

as i would never get a surgery when it's not ansolutely necessary at all, i just abandoned my beloved pointy shoes and started to wear rounded ones. my feet haven't normalized completely yet, but the got much better that before.

onother thing that might help you are those patches specially made for presure points on your feet. you can stick them right on your toe or even into your shoe and the will reduce the pressure.

I've never been all that impressed with a professional pedicure, but maybe I just have to keep shopping around. My feet have become really rough underneath and its getting really bad. I have an awesome foot spa- its practically industrial- but its kinda hard to set it up after work each day, so I have to restrict it to weekend use.

Like a few of you have mentioned, I was guilty of being over zealous with my foot file and instead of making my feet nice and smooth, they became more rough with pieces of skin coming off. That's taught me that its better to buff a little each day rather than really heavy once a week. So at the moment, I'm just trying to find a decent foot cream. Neutrogean have an amazing hand cream, so I think I might try some of their foot cream. And I totally welcome any advice!

^ I think that's the trick, to not exfoliate/scrape once a week, but rather a bit every day. It's crucial, also, to be sure your feet have soaked for a while.. otherwise, it can be painful. :ninja;

I've found a new alternative to my foot rasp, a little pumice type thing called 'IPR-3' I think it's the same thing as 'Mr. Pumice', well I basically wet the block and rub it on a bit of bar soap then gently rub away hard skin...it just melts away, and I really do mean gently like your massaging your feet.

I finally found something that works wonders: Korres body butters. They keep my feet moisturized and soft and you see the results in like 2 days. Love them

^ Where can that be purchased?

I got it in a department store here, I don't know where you can get it in the US, but I remember that in Glasgow they had their own shop.

i just use regular good ole unscented Lubriderm for Normal-Dry skin lotion on the heels of my feet every night. i just keep a little travel bottle bedside. so i can even put it on in the dark because i'll randomly remember when im already in bed. i dont wear flip flops often so maybe thats why my feet usually dont get too dry but putting it on everyday defintely helps  ohh and wearing house slippers around the house so my feet dont get too cold/dry from rubbing up against the floors etc

I have got really high skin under my toe nails and it hurts super badly to cut them!
Of course, what has to be done, gets done. But painfully! any thoughts?

Softening Feet

I use Heel Of Approval from True Blue Spa from Bath & Body Works.
For a time, it did work. It made my heels softer. I think...

Is really all it takes is a good pumice stone every time I step in the shower?

Once upon a time, I sat in front of the TV before bed watching Sex And The City soaking my feet in warm water. Until the water got tepid, I scrubbed them clean. I did this everyday for about 3 weeks until walking started to hurt. My heels had gotten TOO soft and they became sensitive.

What is guaranteed to make 'em soft so I don't go to desperate measures? And I mean cutting off my feet. :P

I have always used Neutrogena's Foot Cream on my feet.. and it has never let me down. ^_^ After using this for a while (1-2 months) any hard spots on my heals were gone.

You are my star. :magic: Thanks for your input, harmonious.

So, are you saying that the hard spots that may make it embarrassing for others to touch your feet is 100% gone? You could say you have feet confidence? :woot::lol:

I think you need to check out the Amazing Cream thread :ninja: In any case, it will make you forget whatever was bothering you before you started reading it. Just don't take a sip of milk or coffee or anything like that ...

I just get a pedicure & let the professionals mess with it ... but I also use Pre de Provence 15% Shea Butter Dry Skin Foot Cream.

As you pointed out, we're supposed to have calluses on our feet. I just try not to have any that show when I'm wearing shoes.

bliss socks work with any cream. my feet were horrible after months of traveling and no time for a proper pedicure, and they made my feet incredibly soft. i don't use them with the bliss cream, just a vaseline cream or c.o. bigelow lotion.

i used vichy's podexine for a little bit and it was amazing. i know vaseline works too but i dont like how it feels and the residues on my feet and hands. one thing i found very easy to do was to keep a pomice stone on the shower and it was a gradually yet easy to maintain the softness of my feet. and really unexpensive too.

The secret to smooth feet, is exfoliating then scrubbing the rough spots, then add a thick layer of moisturizing cream, preferably one with shea butter, and then slip on some cotton socks to seal in the moisture

i found that a cheap pumice stone and some body lotion is all it takes for softening feet. i slather lotion on my feet after shower at night and put on a pair of socks. it's all it takes, forget the expensive products spas force on you! : )

The easy, at-home methods are extremely helpful because yes, I really don't want to spend a fortune! It's as easy as I thought it would be. ^_^ TY!
