The Avengers (2012)

The teaser looks great but they always do... It's rather ambitious project, I'm desperately crossing fingers for it to succeed just so I can see Justice League on the big screen!

do you think they´ll make JL if Avengers is a hit? the major Avengers heroes had great success on their own, as oppossed to DC... wasn´t Green Lantern a flop? we haven´t seen any Superman trailer yet... can the League be successful depending only on Batman?

Gwyneth is not scheduled to be in The Avengers (same with Natalie). If she does appear then it will be a ''surprise'' cameo but according to her reps she's not in it. She and RDJ are fantastic together but this isn't their story. Same with Natalie and Thor.

I don't find Renner good looking at all either so you're not alone. I like him as an actor so I'm looking forward to him in this movie (I am a bit miffed that he's apparently going to be the new Jason Bourne though. Matt Damon forever).

Aha, I knew I had read she wasn't going to be in there. But you know Marvel...

kokobombon, if Avengers is a HUGE success then I don't see how they can not do it. Actually, it is in development, the problem is of course that GL was a big massive flop so things may hinge on Supes. Nolan has declined to let Batman be part of it so it won't happen until he's done with his trilogy. Unless he changes his mind. Rumours are even claiming he'll continue as producer for a Batman reboot, I think. But you know how rumours go. Take it with a pinch of salt. There's also the Flash movie, forever a WIP. And no one will touch Wonder Woman.

Wolkfolk, not a real trailer though. It's just a teaser, isn't it?

Every single release we had in today had Paltrow listed as part of the cast so it seems odd for her side to deny it. In a glorified cameo I suspect, I did hear she did less than two days on set. Personally I could live without her. I want Tom to own this movie, he's earned it...so many years of Shakespeare!

Somehow a Justice League movie seems harder to co-ordinate. I mean, I think they'd have trouble getting Bale for a start, I really think once DKR is over he's done with that for a while, at least for as long as Nolan is.

OT slightly but it was mentioned; Renner isn't playing Jason Bourne in The Bourne Legacy, it's a new character.

^It will be very hard for Tom to steal the spotlight with so many stars and characters.

Yes, JL is forever only almost happening. Marvel has been brilliant in recent years by just doing it by themselves - sort of. Bale would do it if Nolan would. He's said he's in for Batman as long as Nolan is/want him in. But Nolan doesn't want to. I don't mind Nolan, but I never cared for Bale as Batman so I'll be happy once Bale is done.

They should do a Justice League a la Kingdom Come, that would be something really interesting!

Oh I know, it's always hard for spotlight stealing in ensemble movies and especially ones with actors with good characters (lets face it though Chris Evans makes beige paint look exciting). I just have a soft spot for Tom, he was slogging away in the theatre for such a long time before Wallander which was a huge turning point for him. Such good things are happening for him now with Thor, this, War Horse. Competing with RDJ alone is hard work!

I like Bales Batman, washes away that dirty (not in a good way) feeling left from Kilmer and Clooney, though that was always more Schumachers fault than anything else. I get the feeling Nolan is done with superheros for a while.

oh i hope Gwyneth's at least having a cameo, i love the spark she brings to IM. so refreshing. :)
i'm a sucker for Marvel so i'm def seeing this movie, despite the fact trailer indeed seem a tad flat and as it seems they've let RDJ do all the joking (which i love, but i really hoped they'd give those also to rest of the cast).

I don't think you need to worry for Tom  he has loads of dedicated female fans now.

Aw, I have a fondness for Kilmer and Nicole even if the movie was kinda lulzy. It was my first Batman movie that I remember so sentimental value and all. Later I saw Keaton whom I adore. And Michelle Pfieffer of course! But my absolutely favourite is probably the Animated Series - Batman's voice .

As much as I'm happy over Marvel's success, I'm annoyed that DC can't get it together unless it's Batman. (Desperately *crossing fingers* for Henry and Supes!)

I finally saw Captain America today and I think he's officially my favorite Avenger.
His back story is just so touching and I like how he wasn't born with his powers or he wasn't some billionaire genius before. He was just some skinny kid who wanted to fight for what he believed in.

yup, i liked the movie too. it's good, i like how it goes overboard surreal and they're acknowledging it and just going with it willfully. plus the story is very good. my fave still is IM, but Captain America is right behind it. :)

I wasn't too impressed with Captain America if I'm honest, I think Thor was better. The ensemble cast were great, but I've never really been blown away by Chris Evans. He's the weak link in The Avengers as far as I can see too.

really? i thought Thor was the weakest of them all, really didn't like it one bit. the only cool thing were Tom H. as Loki and the scenery. apart from that i thought the story was weak and Thor character really not compelling and i didn't find it convincing one bit.

Not a fan of Chris Evans either. For that reason, I still haven't even seen CA. I enjoyed Thor - it had a great cast and I love Nordic mythology (I'm a Dane after all!)

And btw, I'm kinda annoyed that Chris got CA since he's also in Fantastic Four. Not a fan of Ryan Reynolds doing Green Lantern (MISCAST!) and a Marvel character either.

I agree it is the weekest but I didn't hate it. I felt like there was a chunk of the story missing in the middle. I like Chris and Tom they are great but Natalie was useless. USELESS. It's no wonder the fans don't want her in the sequal. Evan Kat was better.

Iron Man is my fav but Cap America was awesome. I think Chris is getting better with the roles he take. Hayley was kickass as Peggy. I was sad for them at the end.

Pepper & Peggy >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Jane.

If we're talking actual movies, then I think the first Iron Man definitely tops them all with the second one coming in close behind.
THEN, Captain America (more for the individual performances than the film itself..which was somewhat weak).
And lastly, Thor. I just thought Thor fell a little flat in some places. Natalie Portman's performance was so weak. Chris was great and Tom was brilliant though.

But I just really loved the individual characters in CA more than the ones in Thor, especially Hayley Atwell's character. It's nice to see a strong female role on-screen. I wish she could be in The Avengers' film.

Like I said, the supporting characters in Captain America were great. Hayley, Dom, Richard, Stanley etc, all great performances, but I never got casting Chris Evans, he's an awful actor, watch The Avengers trailer and it looks like he's trying to do a bad impression of Ralph Fiennes! I've never rated Joe Johnston as a director anyway, and you put that on a parallel with Ken Branagh and Jon Favreau and that film was never going to work 100%, some of the scrip too was horrid. I did love Peggy too though! I agree that Iron Man is far superior to all of them. Most importantly, actually, that they have a director who's completely new to the franchise helming The Avengers, that that man is Joss Whedon is just a huge bonus, the man can do no wrong in my eyes.
