The Blush thread, all you need to know...

I tried Nars Orgasm a few years ago. I always read the raves in the magazines and bought it.

I'm very fair and very cool toned and this stuff did not look good on me at all! It was horrible. I exchanged it for Nars Desire which is a matte pink and it's a much better fit.

Anyone know of any good matte blushes that would compliment an olive/asian/kinda tan skin tone and make it look like it has a healthy glow? I just want it subtle, with no glitter/shimmer/sparkles.

I just bought MAC Dollymix and I think it looks good on Asian skin tone. I am Asian, but considered pretty "fair" according to SEAsia's standards (not as light skinned as Korean, Japanese)

I need to visit this thread more often. I am deeply in love with blush, but of course only the right amount. :) But, it is one of my staples of makeup. Mascara and lipgloss are the other.

See I don't own a ton of blusher since I went au naturel on the face (except for eyes) til recently, except for some bronzer because I'm more olive-y toned and I tan a lot in the summer, so radiance is golden. However, I have the Alpha Girl beauty powder from MAC that was in the Heatherette collection and I am in love with it-it's the perfect "everyday" blush. Nice peachy pink. The CCO I frequent has the Blushcremes from I believe the Lure collection, and I can't remember the name of the shades but both of them are very appealing.

I am olive/asian, and my fave blushes are:
nars deep throat or nars mounia
tarte tipsy and blushing bride
shu uemura glow on m peach 44

my fave look is tarte tipsy layered with mounia :D

HTH

I dropped my blush at the beginning of the month and it smashed! Grrr. Can't wait til payday so I can get a new one.

I really like Mac "style" on top of Jane's blush in "blushing glow", the Jane blush puts down a lovely pink color while the Mac Style makes it look more golden and bronzed.

I also have Torrid and I don't really like it on me, I prefer Mac Style, it looks sexier.
I do like Orgasm and I especially love it on top of my Jane blush in "blushing glow"...

And I always highlight my cheeks with Nars in "Albatross" and afterwards spray my face with Mac Fix. It makes my skin look glowy and candlelit.

I'm thinking about buying YSL Touche Blush, is it worth it?

I have the touche blush, and it's quite pretty. It has glittery/shimmery pigments it in, so if you're not a fan of that I would avoid it. I don't use the powder puff thing attached to the top of it either, I just use a blush brush to sweep up the excess in the lid and use it that way. To be honest I probably wouldn't purchase again. (although I didn't purchase this, it was a birthday gift, lol)

Cream definitely. MAC Blushcreme is the way to go .. and a little goes a long way. I use MAC Britwit in winter, which is a sort of berry colour and then in summer MAC Lillicent (golden, enhances my tan) and Sweet William (a pretty soft pink)
I think the colours are great, but MAC's blushcremes simply do not work on normal/dry skin. It's a blotchy patchy hell no matter how you apply it. A total waste of money.

am loving stila CC en bobbi brown's pot rouge for cream blush. BTW, tarte stain gel is also great (although it's not cream)

I have a question ..
in order to contour the cheeks ( the hollow area of the cheek) do I always have to use a bronzer? does cheek contouring have to be in a brownish shade.. is it too much if I used a pink blush instead ?
I know I'd definitely not contour it with a fuschia blush but some pinks are subtle and have an earthy undertone..
I hope I was clear enough :ninja:

^There are some very nice matte brownish pinks out there...sometimes it just makes you look sick if you use something bronzy or brown without something warm or pink in it

BTW I really love the Becca Lip & Cheek Creme. Sooo lovely and not blotchy at all (damn you MAC), a bit expensive though. Rosebud is the most perfect cool toned pink I've ever had

For my foundation and blush I use Dainty Doll and I have to say, the blush is really fantastic. It stays on until you take it off which was always a problem for me with other blushes, that they come off too easily or don't show. I've fallen asleep with it on (you know when you're waiting around all ready to go out then get drowsy lol) and it stayed perfect when I woke up, even with my cheek on the couch lol

Do you have any better pictures Tiff? Those ones are kind of hard to see well enough to know what to recommend...
