What a great movie. Even if the subject is so difficult Schnabel never takes the easy route. Jean Do is always respected, and portrayed as the elegant and proud man he was. Even in the hardest moments he is never asking for pity.
All the movie is a feast for the eyes. All the girls are so beautiful, so stylish. Max Von Sydow...is so great, his work is flawless, so restricted and dry and yet so moving... he made me cry every time he just appeared in the screen.
Such a great move. Please see it if you haven´t yet.

I really liked this movie, very beautiful...Although it left me slightly confused by the ending...and I also confused Martina Hands and Emanuelle Segnier, god! they are so similar...i thought Martina had dyed her hair ...
Anyways, I just read this article that claims to telçl the truth about what happened in Bauby's personal issues while hospitalyzed...It seems his wife had the rights of the book and she was also the main source for the screenplay. So it seems the story was changed and the the wife was portrayed in a much more favorable light...
