The Etc Etc of Perfumes & Fragrances

I finally got some fragrances from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab and I'm pretty happy with my choices!:D I got 5mls of Snake Oil, Desire, and Himerus. I would've gotten imps to try them out, but I don't have a credit card so I had to have my mom buy them for me...

Anywho, my favorite has to be Himerus. At first, it smells a lot like sandalwood and bergamot, but then Juniper comes out and I think I smelled some type of flower. I'm guessing it's Orchid cuz it wasn't Lilac like it says in the description on their website. But whenever I wear it, my day just seems a little down and not as good as other days. Oh well, noone ever said life would always be easy.B)

Snake Oil smells like spicy sugar, and I say that in the best way possible. It has a real intensity that I just love! I keep smelling myself through the day and melt. It's super sexy!:brows::crush:

Desire smells like sex and apples. That's all I can really say about it...:heart:

I also got these free samples of Midnight Kiss (like perfumed chocolate ), Muse (eek!), London, Phantom Queen (), Shroud, Versailles (smells like a rich old lady, in the best way possible ^_^), and Tenochtitlan(). I can't wait to get my next order!:woot:

I love perfumes...you guys are making me want to go sample some tomorrow!

I currently wear Hypnotic Poison (it's been my "signature" for years now), but I am probably going to buy YSL Opium for xmas (that's interesting that Carine wears the men's version...I will have to see what that's like, too)

I have also been wanting to get Lolita Lempicka...but prob will wait 'til spring to get that, along w/Vera Wang Princess, which I just smelled & of course have to have, but they seem very "spring/summer" to me...

Oh, and I know you guys will be able to help me with this one...I was wanting to check out this cologne I saw in the "Reviews" section of Allure a couple months ago...I have since thrown away my mag...but it's a men's cologne and the bottle was shaped as a black butane (like zippo) lighter? I am very curious about it now!

I was perfume shopping today, and I must say that the Marc Jacobs perfume smells great! I also like Yves Saint Laurent's [SIZE=-1]Cinéma.

I was disappointed on Coco Mademoiselle though.

Luxx, I want to try Le Labo too! I'm not even sure why lol. I have too many fragrances on my to do list. I just went through most of the Serge Lutens export line and I was so sad. I didn't like/wasn't impressed by most of them. :( And a few were really, truly awful.

The CdG scents don't work on me either, they're very overpowering, acrid and chemically on me. Really wanted the incense series to work on me and it didnt. But very much worth a try!

However, I'm looking forward to getting my decant of Norma Kamali Ceremony. The only real incense scent that works w/me, I love it. I liked the Yemenese incense note in Parfums de Nicolai's Sacrebleu and hated the rest of it. I was reccomended to try PdN's Vanille Tonka so hopefully there will be more incense and well, none of the vanilla. I'm not really a foody person.

Oh and I bought Paul & Joe Blanc EdT. That one was really nice. Not very foody to me, just a sort of creamy white fragrance.

Dang, forgot I also got Maison Berdoues Santal and Oppoponax. Very soft, sort of creamy and nice. But totally fleeting on me so I might have to wear lotion and then spritz.

JeanAvril, how is BPAL's London? I was looking at that one. And how long did it take you to get your order?

I still haven't tried any Serge Lutens; the reputation for being syrupy/sweet has kept me at bay. But I am interested to try Cuir Mauresque from the exclusives line; a friend has promised to send me a sample next month.

I hope I don't like it because it will not be easy to get a bottle in the US!

London smells very....cold. I just get reminded of pine cones and lemons. But I like it.

It took about 3 weeks to get my order.B)

Aww  I personally love the Lutens line but most do have a reputation for being very very sugary and foody / leaning towards being almost candy-esque in quality. Did you get to try Un Lys? Thats one of the nicer, less food oriented ones.

I got to try some Le Labo and I really enjoy the Rose 31, its a bit too masculine for me to wear but on a boy it would be just dreamy I think.

Ooh and if you like incense Bond No. 9 Andy Warhol Silver Factory is quite nice - its not a true incense but the incense note is strong enough to resonate - its a unique scent. I've been wearing it the past couple of days and I quite like it.

I really feel this urge to find something with Gardenia in it that I like. When I was a freshman I wore Marc Jacobs' ubiquitous perfume but I've sort of outgrown that and I'd really like to find something else with a strong gardenia scent - its one of my favorite flowers and just the sort of thing I'd like to sniff right about now. I keep hearing people talk about Estee Lauder's Private Collection Tuberose and Gardenia but Estee Lauder scents almost never work for me - I have really weird chemistry and some perfumes that smell good on everyone just smell icky on me. Its the bain of my existence.

I always, always wear Prada Eau Tendre, it's just my scent - fits me perfectly, I love the way it lingers  But today I tried the Prada Infusion d'Iris and  I loooove it, I can't wait to buy it  so I guess now I'll have two scents :woot:

I have now tested some samples and I really love with Daisy. At first I didn't care it much but somehow it starts growing me. Flowerbomb was disappointment.. ad was so gorgerous! Juice couture was not for me either..

I just received as gifts ” sheer veil” and “princess” by (Vera Wang) and “Love in Paris” by Nina Ricci, this one ..I don’t know, I’m not use to this type of perfumes ..what do you think about this one?, I was waiting for “Brit” (Burberry) but I didn’t receive it hahah so I guess I’ll have to buy it. Do you like Nina Ricci’s perfumes?

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

^^I'm not big fan of Nina's perfumes, but I must say I like Love in Paris.^_^

i like Diesel's Fuel For Life and even D²'s HeWood ain't too bad, but i will not wear those two scents cause i clash with the brand itself..... i kno, i'm a strange fella.

Received Paul & Joe Blanc EdT, Nemat oils in Patchouli, Sandal Wood, and Egyptian Musk. And the Prada Coffret, minis in Prada, Prada Intense, and Prada Tendre. And some atomizers, that I think I will decant the Prada into; they're in really annoying splash bottles, with caps you have to pull off. Already slightly spilled them

has anyone tried Yohji Yamamoto pour femme? what do you think of it?

I have recently discovered "L'instant magique" de Guerlain and I fell in love with it.

For Christmas I received Ralph Lauren's Romance. I had been gushing too much about my favorite Russian, Valentina I guess. I was slightly disappointed, in any case...the perfume gives me a headache.

but of course, I will never tire of my favorite, Chanel No. 5:p
