The Eyebrow Thread, all you need to know and ask about your arches

I used to be an obsessive overplucker, but lately I havent had the time and my eyebrows have completely grown out. And I love it! I look so much better with a fuller eyebrow. Now I get why everyone loves natural eyebrows.

if you live in NY you must go to Sonias brow bar! she loves to keep them thick and arched. she will even tell you were to fill them in. I use to work with her at bergdorfs and all the beauty editors and some celebrities went to her. she charges 50. but worth every penny : )

That's kind of a turn-off for me. I woud prefer someone who appreciates all looks and helps you find something that suits you.

I get mine done at Benefit (inside sephora champs elysees) for 22 euros or so. Perfect everytime! :D

you guys have a very different definition of natural than me....for me natural doesn't look like theyre done.the eyebrows i saw people were posting were all...not natural-looking...And the other posters here are saying omg its beautiful. i know its your opinion but i think our criterias need to change or at least more honest...

My eyebrows are incredibly dark, and thick - they overwhelm my face. But' I don't want teeny-tiny eyebrows, so I have been scared of going to a professional.

^a good professional will listen to what you want and leave them on the thick side if that's what you choose. I have thick eyebrows too and like them, but it makes a world of difference when they're thick and well groomed versus thick and out of control. It's really worth it.

I pay US$35.

Me too, tip included. Much more than I think you should pay, but the girl who does it is skilled so I think it's worth it. I go to a place in Boston that is famous for brows, to get it done with the owner you pay $100+, so I just go to one of her assistants and it's just as good service.

yep some ethnicities like arab's lebanese are born with thick and dark eyebrows. They can create alot of different shapes but they just dont seem right. I think that the real solution here is to create the right shape, which will be full but should be enlighten. So what im saying is for dark thick eyebrows is more lightening and less plucking. lucky genetics though, they grow fast!

There is an Anastasia studio inside the Nordstrom we have here I think they charge about $20-$35 for brows.
I want to go to them but I am wondering if it is worth it because I have really wierd "devils peak" eyebrows and they are really light at the ends and most people dont know how to shape them so I end up having to draw my eyebrows back in for about a month!
I so dont want to pay that much for a botched job, has anyone ever used them or their products?

I think it's not about a brand but about the person who's doing the actual shaping. Given your concerns, IMHO it's worth investigating to find the right person. Why not ring the beauty editor at your local newspaper or magazine and ask for recommendations?

I love the look threading gives me and it lasts a long time, but it is so painful I end up clutching onto the therapist's bed for dear life while she holds an ice cold soda can to my reddened "arches"...

I know, I know, i'm such a baby:unsure:

^ Not at all, I react the same way :flower:
That's why I stopped.

My eyebrows are naturally thin and very sparse. I barely pluck them
or fill them in. I like the fact they don't take up too much attention
of my face.
They are very similiar to Rachel Bilson :

My arches look something like that, very angular but I have way less hair after the arch.
I guess you have to live with what you have, I cant do the rounded arch : (

I've tried growing my eyebrows thicker but it didnt suit me...or maybe I just wasnt used to it but I dont know I guess it looks good on some poeple and bad on others.

This is an old pic of me but my eyebrows are back to this again. I have very light eyebrows so I fill it in with COrk eyeshadow from MAC.

But I really love rachel bilsons eyebrows. I did an arch like hers but not as sharp. Its hard to do and it just didnt look good on me either lol. I guess Im gonna stick to these eyebrows for now until maybe someone can give me another idea of what else might look better on me??

I'm getting mine done today, and I want to have a good idea of how I want them to turn out before going in there. I love when the eyebrow has a very definate arc. I love Rachel Bilson's, perhaps a tad thicker, though. Does anyone have a good picture of this? Also, my look is a good deal like Audrey Hepburn; with that in mind, do you think eyebrows like this would suit me?
