The Eyebrow Thread, all you need to know and ask about your arches

thats good. Then you look natural.

Its better to take less than take too much.

for emailme

What do you think of Sofia Coppola´s brows?

I think they look nice, but are very arched and manicured for a odd featured face like hers.
She had very bushy eyebrows when she was young...

Looking forward for your opinion...:flower:You´re a guru

i think hers are fine. They are very groomed. It definitely isnt her natural shape but she maintains it well.

They are thinner than my preference but she can pass it because she has softer eyes and thick ones would just overpower them.

if your asking my opinion on if you should refer to her brow shape, i would say no. I believe hers are meant to be thicker but thats her choice. I would have kept it full but in a llight colour.

I used to love my eyebrows and actually got alot of complements on them...but they got thinner over time....im going to try to grow them back but just dont have the patience!

^ it most definitely is, I'm very happily continuing to leave mine alone. Maybe I'll go til August!

My hair went lighter brown with the lemon, I have yet to see grayish. I was probably out in the sun for 45 min or so. It may be different for others though.

Thanks for your answer, and karma:flower:

I love Sofia´s eyebrows but always wondered if you could succesfully keep such shape in a face like hers.
I´ve been using some of your directions to shape my own eyebrows, and I´m very happy with the results.

I have some very rebel stray hairs scattered well down the eyelid, so I´m always removing them. My shape is quite good, my only complain (beside those rebel strays) is a scar on one of my eyebrows (when I was a little girl my brother threw me a stone there:shock:) so I gotta cover the scar where the hairs don´t grow.

Thanks again!

oh your welcome and thank you for the karma.

thats terrible to hear about your scar. i have friend who has something similar to you.

It´s not too bad, only a tiny line less than half an inch long. It would be invisible in any other place in the face, but in the eyebrow you see a little "hole" with no hairs.

It´s strange because the skin in the scar tends to be more slippery, and therefore the powder or pencil doesn´t adhere as good to it.

Here´s a pic of Elodie Bouchez in "La vie revee des anges" with a similar (fake) scar. Mine´s a lot less noticeable, because my brows are way less bushy.

Elodie Bouchez has great brows! She could use some tweezing, but I love strong brows.

By the way I love Carla Bruni´s brows...Here´s some pics...

oh my friends scar is below her arch.

im sure the scar can be a nuisance sometimes since the skin is different there.

Those eyebrows you like are really nice.

Elodie Bouchez has some beautiful brows.

I have a scar too. :( You're right, nothing will stick to it. I kind of considered getting a tattoo there, but I don't think it's that necessary. Plus it could turn out weird. My best bet is to just let my brows be as full as they can, then it's easier to do a comb over.

Sometimes I love my brows, and sometimes I hate them. The ends are always annoying though. They need almost constant coaxing to get them to go straight at the tips, or else they droop. I wish my brows were fuller, I think the hair is too fine to keep a good shape. And every little hair counts. If one falls out, I feel like I'm balding.

I think I've said this before, but I'm so envious of Adina Fohlin's eyebrows. I wish mine went in a straight line. Rather, mine have a somewhat curvy arch.

scan by modelhistory.

her brows are fine i think her arch got tweezed out. now its more softer. it somewhat looks odd w/her defined eye.

and for the ends of your eyebrows. i have that in one brow. i dont really know whats wrong with yours im kinda confused with what you said.

but mine has the wrong arch and there are hairs growing back on the top again.

maybe that could help you.

this brow had got me confused for 2 years now and still is but now i have a clearer vision of what its shape is.

my other brow is fine but i just realized that my brows are growing hair on the top too.

so mine is higher with less arch.

In the first pic posted of Carla Bruni I think it's kinda sexy how her scar crosses her brow. Like she's rough-and-tumble but still cute and pretty and femme at the same time.:flower:

I go threading for my eyebrows, I feel like there cleaner and well shaped compared to when I pluck or get them waxed. Just my personal preferences.

i have never done threading. i dont even know how it works.

maybe you can enlighten us.:)

Question about eyebrow shape?

Well.... i know that eyebrows can make or break your face,,but i really would love to know what kind of eyebrow suits a type of face. For example i have a nose and face shape like model eugenia volodina or raquel zimmerman, what kind of eyebrow should i do?Im soo confused and tierd of overplucking=((

well first of all im guessing youdont own natural brows.

my advice is to fully grow your eyebrow first. im guessing to that youve been maintaing a highmaintenance brow that never seems to satisfy you for a long time.

when i say fully grow out your brows i mean that you will have alot of spare hairs around and look somewhat crazy.

If you have been an avid overplucker for a long time dont expect to reheal back your natural brow in a few months and not even a year.

In my experience, youll see a cleare brow shape in 2 years. For the first year its really working with what you have. The base will not resurface until the 2nd year and the upper part is a little faster.

This is going to be a price of overplucking. You are right now really unclear on what brow you should have.

You may have unplucked so much already that you have nothing left to work with and stuck in a rut.

1st of all, thanks for sharing your knowledge :flower:

Secondly, I know this may sound silly -I am trying to re-grow my eyebrows but they look so... messy. They're naturally really bushy and asymmetric. Anyhow, do you know of any good make-up to cover them?

I am trying benefit lemon aid which is a yellow toned concealer. I also use a brow pencil on my brows for filling. It works OK but doesn't look that natural.

Any ideas?

I've always hated my brows.

They aren't thin, but not very thick. The main with them problem is that close to the beginning of my left brow, there is a little space where the hairs don't grow as much as in the rest of the brow. I mean, that there are less hairs. And all the hairs curl when they are a bit long (funny, my hair is very straight, but not my eyebrows), so I have to cut them when they reach a certain length.
