The Eyebrow Thread, all you need to know and ask about your arches

^ You can absolutely dye them, same as the hair on your head. I think this would make them less noticeable and give them a slimmer look - a lot better option than making them any thinner.

I've considered it, but I'm scared:blush: How often do they have to be dyed? I really don't know much about it.

Don't be scared! I have tons of friends who do it and it looks fine. My mom does it herself to color the grey in her eyebrows and I never knew until she told me. If you are nervous you could always go to get it done at a salon for the first time and bring a picture of someone with similar coloring. I am not sure about the upkeep, but I would imagine it would be about the same, if not better than, the hair on your head - eyebrows tend to grow a lot slower than the hair on your head afterall.

I tried my first plucking when I was 13 and I completely ruined my eyebrows. The way they looked for that 4 months anyway. They've grown back since and actually I rarely maintain them because I have such light, few hairs (naturally light eyebrows) and I have a natural arc to them also. All I do is pluck random stray hairs and that's it. I consider myself lucky because I'd hate to have to fiddle with my eyebrows and the rest of my face. (I'm too lazy to even put on makeup most of the time. )

i just bought that talika gel. i'll be getting it in the mail within 4-7 days. i hope it works for me! i have full, thick eyebrows, (a uni-brown, even, but i get my brows threaded and shaped.) but, i have a spot in the inside of my left brown that looks like it's randomly missing hair. my facialist said that it could be due to a facial scrub i've used. :-[

thank you, ksanochka vanmra, i hope it works, too. i am so picky about my eyebrows, and so that bare spot is driving me nuts. :(

why are you picky about yours?

i've always been picky about mine because having a unibrow as a child until my mother allowed me to thread/wax my brows made them a big deal for me!

Because in some parts hairs don't grow well and I have a "cowlick" (do you use this word?" in my left brow. And my hairs are long, so I have to cut them.

ah i have a cowlick on my brow too! i dont know what to do with it! i cant always gel it all the time so its really frustrating...

Eyebrows are so odd. I remember the first time I tried playing around with them, I had them ultra skinny and really bad, completely over tweezed them and they had horrible arches. Last year, I got them threaded for the first time and it's not a painful experience but it stings and my eyes watered a whole bunch. It was embarrassing they had to put lotion and hand me a tissue, but apparently this is normal and happens to a lot of people? I don't know! Threading sets a really nice shape if your eyebrows are not defined.

Basically, I don't get them done professionally anymore cos threading hurts (the outcome is nice though!), and waxing on the face scares me. I learned how to tweeze them really well and have now set an appropriate shape that I just maintain all the time with tweezers. I do my mom's eyebrows and my own, and recently got many compliments, so who needs threading, huh! Practice makes perfect, blah blah blah. Sorry for the rambling! :innocent:

ksanochka vanmra, mine grow long too. but when i thread them, the lady usually trims my eyebrows for me, too. thank goodness, i've been threading them for so long that they don't hurt at all anymore. i found a new threading place that i am going to go to tomorrow after having mentioned that i bought the talika gel in here last night, but i don't know if i should use the talika gel before i go and get them threaded. i usually go every two weeks because my eyebrows and uni-brow grow back at lightning speed, it's insane.

^Sounds great, Izzie!

I just came here to say that I was pleased with my eyebrows today. I tweezed my right one, the one that always looks off, and now it looks more like my left eyebrow (or at least nice on its own). Yay!! I always followed that "don't pluck above the eyebrow" rule but I decided to go ahead and pluck some off, and it made all the difference. Now I don't need bangs anymore! :P

Is that Talika gel good for people who have sparse eyebrow hairs? I don't even like having them plucked much because I sometimes don't even look like I have eyebrows in photographs.

i think it should be. i have thick, full eyebrows, but i had a bare spot where hair was missing due to exfoliating my face, i suppose, and the talika gel has taken care of it! the itty bitty missing patch of hair is growing back!
