The Eyebrow Thread, all you need to know and ask about your arches

Thanks, sofialuv!! I don't think I was spicific enough in my last post, though. I was wondering how thick my eyebrows should be from what I told you. Sorry for the confusion.

Eyebrow Tinting

I recently dyed my hair and I want to make my eyebrows lighter to match..how can I dye my eyebrows by myself or use an eyebrow pencil to do this?

quick ?'s:

if you get your eyebrows waxed, does it only take away eyebrow hair thats extra, or does it actually shape your brows?

where is the best place to get it waxed?

and what (in your opinion) is the best way to get eyebrows done?
thanks :flower:

I think freshly done brows are like an instant makeover..

prada on pointe I get mine threaded..they're somewhat thin so I can go 3 weeks in between visits and it's SOOOO precise. They shape my brows really well, not expensive either, $8 plus a tip...I'd never go back to waxing/tweezing.

ermmmm i noes this thread is abt eye lashes but i had a question abt eyebrows n din noes where to post it so was wondering if neone could help  i haf like funny sparse eyebrows n was wondering if neone could recomend a good pencil or wot not to make them look...normal???

Four things to mention:

- I love Chanel's waxy eyebrow pencil in the taupe shade. Although I'm a brunette this is dark enough and you can put it on easily without making big errors. They have a powdery pencil too but I don't like that one - I like the waxy one with the little mascara wand on the other end.

- To fill in sparse brows, do you have a very thin kind of stiff brush? I'd just try that with a little wet eyeshadow of whatever shade you have that's closest to your brows. That's easiest for drawing in little fake hairs. You could try it without wetting the shadow too but wet will give you darker. Then you can kind of dust over the eyebrow with dry eyeshadow to give it a little more solid filled in look if you need that.

- If it's like the outer third of the brow that's really sparse, that can be one sign of hypothyroidism.. I think it's called "St. Ann's sign" or something obscure like that.

- I find nutrition makes a difference in how much eyebrow hair I've got going... I try to get enough protein and good fatty acids and also take a biotin supplement.

Why is it that every time I get my brows waxed I get a blemish right between my eyes?

I never pluck my eyebrows - they are pretty enough when left alone ^_^ and i don't mean to sound vain by saying that. It's just that I don't like brows that are too thin or too perfect, so a stray hair or two doesn't bother me. Actually the ideal brows to me are the really thick, distinctive brows like Brooke Shields had when she was really young. I love that look. Not monobrow - just really strong.
So what I do sometimes is use a bit of mascara to darken and thicken. And i have a special soft old toothbrush that i use only for brushing my eyebrows. It's budget, but it works just fine :p I would like to try out an eyebrow pencil though.

 the old 'mascara brushed through the brows' trick is one of my favs. . .
when i'm going for strong brows . . . ;)

very good advice! this is what I have been doing for a couple years now. I lost all my hair to a medical treatment, and thankfully the hair on the top of my head grew back, but I guess it was at the cost of my eyebrows! So I have been pencilling/shading in my eyebrows ever since. They look great from a distance, very model-worthy, and I used to think they looked pretty good up close too.

Lately, though, I have been looking in the mirror and my eyebrows seem to be looking more and more fake to me. Is there something I can do that will make my eyebrows look a little more natural? I mean, I know they are never going to look like there is actually hair there when I look in a magnifying mirror, but maybe I can do something a little different?

Do you think there is such a thing as an eyebrow transplant??

that post couldve been written by me. i agree with every sentence.

I am a huge fan of drawn on brows.. well, on the right people. I had drawn on brows for a long time... I still draw mine on, but now I have some eyebrow hairs instead of none. My eyebrows are black (I'm asian) but really really sparse, so without pencil they look like they dont exist!

I also pluck them pretty much daily. You know those annoying little tiny hairs? Ugggh they're so evil. I'll sit around for aggges trying to get them. Yeah, it's really sad.
