does anybody know any other urban legends abouts or common mistakes abotu eyebrow shaping? lyk tricks to grow hair faster and pluckingtechniques. oh ya and also ont u think its about time to invent an eyebrow grower. now THAT would be a revolution dont u think? lol

NOT everybody is meant to have arches. Three problems that causes overplucking. In the upper curve of the brow people tweeze that part out and your NOT supposed to. look at jessica stam. she has like three hairs in there but it makes a huge difference on her fox-like eyes. another part is the base of your brow that you are not to touch because that is when it starts to look fake and u obsess and pluck and pluck. This part determines the thickness of your brow. All you can really touch is the bottom of the curve and ends of your brows. the top, you should just observe it and look carefully then do it.DO NOT attempt to do it all at once. when you do your eyebrows and you ask yourself,

'Does dis look right?' it is ALWAYS A NO because u r not sure and brows are sumthin u have to be 300 percent sure about.

sometimes leaving a LITTLE BIT of strands of hair in the curve can give you a more natural look. You can use a liner to even alter the curve just by shading in a portion of that part to change the look of it now and den. Besides at least if there is hair theres sumthin to work with compared to overplucking. so learn to be satisfied.

i dont think you should tweeze everyday cuz your hair do not grow fully in one day. your taking more than what you can grow. also its nice to admire celebrity eyebrows but DO NOT copy them! you dont necessarily have the same hair growth as them and therefore will screw your brows up because you will try to have something you dont. its like trying to chaange your brown eyes to blue by painting it. Learn to like your brows.

another mistake : trying to make your brow look great in every angle. it will NEVER gunna look great in every angle unless u get it skinny and thats not correct. Or, you're african american and have high arched eyebrows. Other than that you wont have an eyebrow that looks perfect in every angle. the only angle u shud be concerned about is the front. dont tilt ur head down and see if both top and bottom curve are the same. i mean who actually looks at u looking down? your lower curve does not necessarily have to be the same curve as the top. if you tilt down your head it should be a triangle that can have a curved bottom.

I've got jetblack eyebrows, I'd like to ' lighten them '. But not brown or blonde. I want them to be a bit more ' grey-ish black ' instead of jetblack, if that makes sense?
Any way I can do it?

I just had my eyebrows threaded today. My eyebrows have been a constant source of irritation for me for a couple of years, because when I first had mine done, it was just my a mom of a friend, who, albeit had a knowledge of what she was doing, didn't do it professionally. The last two years or so, I tried to change the shape myself, completely take care of my eyebrows myself, and was hardly ever happy with them. So I decided to completely grow out my eyebrows, then go to a salon, and have them threaded. Finally, after months and months of waiting, I had them done today. And I love, love, love them! They're moderately thin, which I like, but not overly so, and have a nice curve without looking like a barbie doll from the 60's. I honestly think that, as incredibly shallow as this sounds, just knowing your eyebrows are perfectly groomed gives you a little bit of added confidence. That’s horrible. Of course, it might just be the little bit of added pampering of any kind that does the trick.

I'd felt shy about having mine done professionally, also. I'm not quite sure why, if it was just because I wasn't quite sure what to expect, or if I had a little fear I'd "get in trouble" for having tried to take care of them myself, or quite what it was, but I'd put it off for a while. But once I did decide to go, it was all definitely worth it. I had a very early appointment, so there wasn't really anyone around. It was very quiet and soothing. Everyone was very nice and polite, and really sweet. Even if it had been a busier time, I think I would have still realized that it really wasn't a big deal. So no need to be shy at all lol.

I had my eyebrows done by Shavata in Harrods.
In the past I have been really obsessive but its such a relief to hand the responsibility over to someone else...
Shavata was very good - told me what I needed to hear - 'don't touch them!'.
Looking forward to going back with fully grown brows so I can finally achieve the perfect shaped brows for my face...
Has anyone else been to Shavata or any other recommended eyebrow gurus in london?

I had my eyebrows threaded a few days ago, and I LOVE IT! It's a different sensation to waxing and tweezing, but is quick and very effective. It makes such a difference to my face and looks really good.

thrading is great-it also looks really natural on me for some reason- i had my eyebrows done from landy dean an eyebrow "expert" here in nyc- and i personally thought they were too thin and overdone when he did them so i grew them back out-besides the shape he gave me was too hard to maintain anyways

can anyone explain me how exactly an eyebrows wax happens? i mean what do they ask you.. and what are they doing with your eyebrows? Ive been wanting to get one for forever, but im too shy to go there :/

I haven't had my eyebrows waxed professionally (threaded, yes, but not waxed) but I have had them waxed by a friend's mom, and it should be basically along the same lines. First, you lie on your back, and you just need to relax. Then, the wax is painted onto the hair of your eybrows that won't end up as part of the final shape. The strips are applied to the wax, and pulled off, the stray hairs with it. At the end, your eybrows are cleaned with tweezers. Don't be shy, it isn't as big a deal as you'd think.

but can such a big strap of wax really be exactly the shape of your brow? i mean when i think of waxing, i think of when i wax my legs and its just a big piece of sheet that you rip off, but but with brows everything has to be so exact. how do they know your shape?

Professionals should know what theyre doing...but really its just the strays they wax off....to perfect the shape really close to the brow, they tweeze it to be exact.

If the throught of them accidentally waxing the whole thing off freaks you, try threading

Don't worry, I've had my eyebrows waxed many, many times and I've never heard of anyone using 1 strip of wax to do it. The lady will go carefully, taking out little blotches of hair at a time. They don't do the entire part of your eyebrow that is coming off at once, they go gradually, and like sephora said, the hairs closest to the hairs that are staying are usually tweezed.

I've never lied down for one either, I always just walk in, take a seat in the chair, the lady asks me general questions about what I want, and she gets to work. She always cuts my long hairs, and tweezes strays, or hard to reach hairs too. There is a lot of brushing my eyebrow hairs into place involved as well.

And I like the girl who does mine soo much, that I give her free reign. I just walk in an tell her I trust her, and have never had a bad result. I think the never fail way to go about this is: if you have a friend or accquaintance who you think has nice eyebrows, ask them for a recommendation of a salon to go to. And don't be embarrassed, the woman doing it does it all day long, on all sorts of people, and every girl she sees at some point had to go to her for a first time, she's totally used to it.
