The Eyebrow Thread, all you need to know and ask about your arches

lol. okay. okay so this is what im going to do im just going to say um i have something to say to you. i have heard some people talking about this. I mean its not people who hate you and they are friends. They said that your eyebrows are totally whacked up...and that they really got shocked cuz you had to have full brows and really liked that cuz it looked natural. Now, they kinda just get weirded out when they look at you. I mean personally that did happen to me too and i do prefer you with full brows. i think you should grow it back cuz they looked good anyway undone.

i mean it is true her brows looks really good naturally. and i feel so bad and think as her friend its my duty to tell her something like that.

Just a question... I've been thinking about, maybe, getting the eyebrow threading done. But, I heard it's really painful. =( How would you rate the pain?

I had mine threaded I few months back. It's more painful than waxing, but not so much that I wouldn't consider having it threaded again. I have a fairly good pain intake level, however. If waxing is a 6/10, threading would be a 8/10 the moment it's being done. But the pain tends to dissipate rather quickly.

anyone know any good eyebrow powder to get this season's bushy brows?? I normally use a pencil but i want a softer effect

wow, this thread definitely reminds me that I need to get my eyebrows done. I've let them grow out since I last got them done, just due to being incredibly busy. They've grown too bushy for my liking though. I just miss them being more groomed I guess.

btw I noticed some of you get your's done at places besides hair salons. I live in a very small town & the hairdressers here aren't people that I trust very well & have good reason to...I won't even go into my horrible experiences. I'm definitely going to look into threading, isn't that an Indian way of doing eyebrows? I think I've seen some ladies from India do it before, I'll have to try it.

^ Beauty counters do pretty decent jobs too ( waxing, not threading...for threading u need more of a specialist i think). I've gotten mine done at Benefit and Bobbi Brown's.

can anyone recommend a good eyebrow pencil for redheads? the ones ive found are all too brown. i mean i dont want cartoon red, obviously, but i just feel brown doesnt really go with my hair, cos my hair is red. and i get ones that call themselves "for redheads"..and they still look brown to me :/ any advice appreciated, going makeup shopping tomorrow :)

I think her eyebrows are lovely

omg they are exactly like mine. If only I knew how to post pics. Can any one tell me and I'll post a pic of mine.

I would prefer a lower arch as I feel that my high arch can tend to make me look a little harsh but thankfully I have a very baby face (at 23 yrs of age I get mistaken for 15)

I like a full very natural looking brow as I feel it makes people look more relaxed and younger.

i totally agree.

which is why i'm trying very hard to grow out my very thin and pale brows - anything to look younger :p

I think eyebrows is the most important part of someone's facial features...having a well groomed eyebrows could lighten someone's face up...it makes a big difference....I get my eyebrows done every two weeks by the same person ( she threads my eyebrows and familiar with its natural shape, having a different person every month would natural cause a diaster)..
Additionally, i use castor oil they grow hair faster especially on eyebrows and eyelashes ( on eyelashes, use an old mascara wand and dip it in the castor oil then just use it on ur lashes, works wonders) on ur eyebrows u can use ear cotton bud and just put it on ur eyebrows...trust me it works amazing...Eyebrows and eyelashes are hair , just like ur hair scalp...hair scalp is treated every month either with home hair masks or oil treatments...because the hair gets stressed out with the weather, work, blow dry etc...same goes with the hair on ur eyelashes and eyebrows..
Also, i love the eyebrow gel, i use it to shape my eyebrows, its like comb but with gel...gives its a nice fresh shape..:flower:

racially ambigious female seeks eyebrow help

hi, i have been experimenting with different eyebrow shapes forever and now i just want something i can live with for years. i've tried everything, arched, flat, short, long  . any advice would be very very much appreciated, my friends are not of much help as they are already gorgeous and don't put time into their appearance. my natural eyebrows are just nuts, they are sparse, but grow all over the place and are really long, gross! and they have this really weird arch that never ends...?? I like them a little bit arched, but I really admire the flat eyebrows. Sometimes my eyebrows make me look too boring when they are flat, like I am a docile little cow, hard to explain, I am looking for something more dominant.

these are my best eyebrows (which i dont have right now): but i dont like how thin they are, maybe kind of tacky.

i look weird, i know the face i am making is weird, but i look so uncontroversial.

right now i have messed them up and they look like this (too fat at begining, i forced this weird arch, and i am plucking A LOT above where my brows naturally are:

sorry for the long post, but someone please help!

^ you really need to just leave your brows alone.
however hard it is. just hide those tweezers. it will be painful . . i know!
only then can you reshape your brows.
but i like the shape in your first photo . . can't really see
that shape w/the right thickness should be perfect?!

ha, thanks for the quick response, i am scared to leave them alone because they are sooooo naturally weird looking :ninja: , but i will just have to go to a professional i guess. anyway, thanks again!:p

I'm really surprised at people who 'force' an eyebrow shape because I think it must be so difficult. I love flat eyebrows as well but I just know I will never ever have them and drawing on eyebrows a.somewhat hilarious b.even if for whatever reason i did that, it would be squiggly lines. So I agree with Chanel, just let them regrow as best you can and then tidy them up as best you can and there you have it.

I came into this thread with a reason though....can anyone recommend a decent brow gel? I'm thinking of testing out MAC's but wanted to come in here first. Because like a lot of people, my eyebrow hairs grow downward naturally which really aggravates me.

if you want to really beef up your eyebrows for this seasons look, use bare escentuals eyebrow kit, the powder=great full eyebrows!

This totally says it all!
The most anti eyebrow i´ve ever heard of are the stencils, i mean it´s like wanting something without even wasting 10 seconds to think about the logic of having it.
you're suppose to use the stencil as a guide to your eyebrow shape but some women don't seem to understand that. it helps me personally from overplucking. i bought the Anastasia stencils from sephora cause i had money to waste. i think they were like fifteen bucks in which you get four.

I don't like overly plucked or overly thick eyebrows. Just so they have a nice arch. Mine used to be thinner and more severe but I'm pretty happy with the shape they are now... some people might think they are too thin but thats how I like em :) I think eyebrow shape totally depens on the person, some people look good with full eyebrows, some don't same goes for thin eyebrows. So I say do whatever blows your hair back. Don't listen to rules, its personal preference. Anyways... heres mine at the moment :)
