If you don't want a ton of coverage and want your feckles to show, I'd recommend Prescriptives Traceless. It's not so much of a foundation, as a light tint. You'd hardly feel it at all.

You might want to check out Laura Mercier either the foundation ( you decide the coverage..w. the amount you apply..tricky to apply..so make sure your friend knows how) or the tint which is really good.

You could also ask for samples..usually there'll be more than enough for your friend to apply a test-run and for the special day

I actually went to Lancome today and the girl gave me generous samples of the shade that worked for my skin. I feel bad that I won't be going back to buy it since the sample is more than enough for my wedding but I'll go back and buy something else from her that I'll use since she (unknowingly) saved me the hassle of buying foundation.

Great, I really like lancome photogenic for dry skin, it's light and natrural looking plus it reflects light really well. Is that the one she gave you? I also have to recommend MAC strobe cream underneath the foundation. At least go to the counter and give it a try.

I use Prescriptives Custom Blend and love it. As you might imagine, the person behind the counter matters. Try asking for the Prescriptives manager.

that's exactly what I got, the photogenic stuff :) I haven't tried it all over but she tested it on my chin and it seemed fine.

but what's MAC strobe cream and why would you put it under your foundation... is it a moisturisor?
 
bare minerals by bare escentuals is absolutely amazing! i love it. its very lightweight and it actually works. its powder and it doesnt make your sking dry, doesnt flake or anything. i
 
I like Lancome's Dual Finish. It's not light, but it covers everything and looks smooth.
It's only available By Lancome U.S.A. Where I live, the only Lancome Paris is available so I use it for special occasions and have a friend send it to me sometimes.
 
I have a small nose and full cheeks that make my face round...
How can I make my cheeks a little bit better?

hi. im almost clueless abt make up. what is the basic essentials for everyday wear? must i apply foundation/pressed powder etc? can i just apply moisturizer, some blush and lipgloss?
 
Hey Perisacooper, i think the essentials are different for everyone, you should wear whatever you think you need to wear. My main bare essentials are probaly cover up and lip balm. If i'm wearing more then that it would most likely be cover up, lip balm, eye liner and mascara! But it does vary for every one and depends on how much time you have, just wear whatever you think you need to really! But sure you can just apply moisturiser, blush and lipgloss if thats all you want to wear, as far as i know theres no rule!

Even though it's a powder, it provides great coverage and evens out redness and helps you to look more "alive" - I can attest to this, because I've seen people who use this foundation on days when they forgot to, or had yet to, put it on.. :lol:

It also comes in tons and tons of pale shades. The palest looks almost clown/gost/milk/reallyeffinpale white. It might be just what you're looking for!

...I would've also recommended MAC, since their lightest shade basically *is* clown white, but MAC's foundations tend to be breakout-inducing.

Also, if you don't give the Dior a try I'd definitely recommend Make Up Forever's pan stick. It is great for problem skins. I have combination/oily skin, and so do a lot of my friends who've used and swear by this foundation, and we all love it and have never experienced any breakouts! It provides way more coverage than medium (think totally flawless/airbrushed makeup ad...), and the lightest shade is...extremely pale.

Also, a great way to achieve the "OMG! totally airbrushed,perfect skin" makeup look would be using the MUFE with the Dior powder over it! :o

hey brian. i really liked ur advice here and i think im gonna try the whole pan stick/dior combination. i was just wondering where u can buy make up forever products (i live in london), or can u only buy it online at sephora?
i was also wondering which dior product u were referring to out of the 2 below...

i have a feeling it may be the first one, but just making sure.
also, this combination wont leave my skin looking a bit too heavily made up or cakey will it? i want it to look flawless but natural/not too heavy.
