The Face Thread, the Q's and A's about Foundations, Primers, Powders...

Blush Question

Here's the deal: I'm almost out of my current blush (Paula Dorf in Tootsie) and it seems to have been discontinued - which doesn't bother me that much because I wanted something different anyway. So...I need help finding a new color and/or brand.

I'm blonde, blue eyes, fair skin - can you help?! Please… :flower:

Hipkitten..stay away from MAC blushers..

Nars is a good option but even better imo is Shu Uemura it has the largest selection you can imagine!

I like Stila blush. It stays on longer. The colour quite deep. For some occassions I add Touch joues (the sparkling blush) of YSL. It's really fresh.

does anyone know of a light foundation or powder to just "set" my concealer? i dont like the feeling of having anything too heavy on my face.

MAC's Blot Powder (comes in an compact) :flower:

thanks hanne and fireatwill :flower:

and they both come with a cute little puff!! :woot:

i cant wait to take my weekly mall trip now ^_^

I'm currently using a compact powder which is so good !
It really gives me that ' airbrushed ' look.
It can be a bit dry at times depending on how much you use, but you're
supposed to apply this powder with a wet spounge. Unlike the general rule of
always buying a foundation one shade lighter than your normal skintone, you're
supposed to buy this one shade darker. Because the powder actually gets
' lighter ' after a little while.
It costs $ 45 but very worth it's price ! :woot:

It's an italian brand called Nouba ( www.nouba.it )

^ the english sites not working for me

but i sent my sister to pick me up some MAC blot powder the other day, and i LOVE IT :woot:
it makes my face feel soooo soft, and its so light, it doesnt even feel like i have make up on! and for like .42 oz i think, its quite cheap
thank you again Hanne :flower:

i reallyyy wanted to give the clinique i try, but my sister told me she used some clinique products before and she broke out in little, skin colored bumps, and we have the same skin type, so i didnt want to risk anything. but i'll def recommend it to my friends who already use clinique

After trying primers from Nars, Clinique, Chanel and MAC. I finally found
the one that's best for me :
Laura Mercier's Foundation primer ( Thanks Hanne & sofialuv for recommending ! ).
Most of the primers only work as a way to keep your make up on place/ fresh
all day and that's all.
But this is one creates a smooth invisable layer to prepare and protect the skin.
And it smoothen out the tiny bumps I have and keep the make up fresh
all day.

Perfect for those who has dry and sensitive skin such as myself.

I HAVE TO rave about my new fave tinted moisturizer - YSL's Teint de Jour, tinted matt moisturizer. It's absolutely perfect. Not too heavy, but still leaves a matte finish. Esp on my normal/oliy skin. :woot::heart:

i'm 17 and have good skin with no breakouts ... but feel like its time to buy my first foundation, especially for going out at night and for weekends. I'm looking for something that makes my skin look dewy, not too made up, radiant .... Tiuu Kuik skin

i have never bought a foudnation before and not sure how to go about testing for the right one. I love MAC but am intimidated a little by the shop assistants... not sure what to say. Also, not sure if I need powder or concealer!!!

Help me i have a crisis!!!:(

hello again ^^

since you have good skin I'd recommend MAC Select Tint SPF 15m not too much coverage and it's highly rated on MUA (www.makeupalley.com)

you only need concealer if you have undereye circles, scars, blemishes, redness etc... powder if your skin gets oily. MAC Blot powder is fantastic, it mattifies the skin without adding anything to your skin but a silky veil, but you have to use a good brush for it, since the applicator is crappy...

I love MAC Prep+Prime Skin at the moment, it makes Studio Fix even easier to glide on. And Studio Fix is my fav foundation, I'm on my 4th compact and I've never repurchased foundation before...
