The Face Thread, the Q's and A's about Foundations, Primers, Powders...

golden butterfly i actually prefer pressed powder!
but i use it w/luminiser first & then really buff it into my skin.
gives an absolutely flawless finish

have any of you tried ysl's perfect touch brush foundation? i've read about it in a few magazines, and it sounds amazing but i don't know anyone who's used it. does it blend well? how does it make your skin feel and look? what kind of coverage does it give? thanks.

Nice to see someone else than me like :-)
What luminiser do u use?

Im thinking of buying a primer, anyone got any recommandations (sp?) for me?? there's just so many to choose from, mac, clarins, lancome, well, every brand's got one :P Im not interested in allways wearing foundation over it, so it must work well on its own. Which primers do you guys use?? :flower:

Does anyone have any experience with MAC'S Face and Body Foundation?

Does it give good coverage?
I love Face & Body! It's a really glowy foundation that doesn't give much coverage, but it's buildable. If you want full coverage, this is definitely not for you since F&B is sheer. ^_^

I also need some recs for a primer...I live in Australia and most of the proudcts listed on MUA arent available here. In the past ive used modelco (which was alright) and Instant smooth perfecting touch (which was probably the worst product ive ever used in my life). My skin is pretty much normal.

I wear tinted moisturisers, but am interested in using a primer. Can anyone recommend specifically a silicon based makeup primer (and one that is good to use on oily skins)?:flower:

I wanted to ask the same thing as Karina. Never used primer before, and it is about time to start. Any recommendations for oily skin? What is the difference between Clarins products: Beauty flash balm and Instant smooth perfecting touch, are they both primers, and which is better?
Karina what kind of tinted moisturiser you use, since your skin is oily? I always though that I'd look so shiny with "only" that on my face....

I use Becca's Luminous Skin Color. It's brilliant, they have such a wide range in colours so you're bound to find a match whether you're Nicole Kidman or Grace Jones!
It gives a beautiful finish, looks like your skin, just better. No-one ever knows I wear makeup...but that's my little secret:flower:
I've actually heard that Bliss' Mattification Gel is a must-have. You can use it under makeup or over. I think I'm gonna give it a try just for the T-zone area.

help!

whats a good foundation for combination skin thats more on the dry side?
all the foundations i've tried just look like a mask on me because I think they're not moisturizing enough..they just look cakey on my dry skin.

Try applying a thin moisturizer before putting it on, my skin is like that right now, and there really isnt going to be a really moisturizing foundation. I just moisturize my face good before applying and everything is good. (exfoliating helps get the dry skin off as well)

I have just discovered the *best* tinted moisturiser ever! It's Ten-O-Six tinted moisturiser in the shade 'natural' and I got it on sale at the supermarket for $AUD2!!!! It has decent coverage with a great natural finish and it gives my skin the loveliest golden colour :) Im in love!

hi i'm sorry if someone's asked this already but...

i have no clue about make-up really. i've been using MAC studio fix powder and i'm looking for a change. anyone have any recommendations for a powder for dry/combo skin? in addition to a moisturizer as well...tinted or not doesnt really matter. would appreciate it!

I have pale skin but with yellowish tones, any foundation that´s pale enough is always too pink for me. I use YSL when I´ve got a tan but when I´m back to my normal skin tone I always have to make my own foundation from blending three different ones, which is kind of a pain.. I´ve been thinking about laura Mercier´s foundations, anyone here with a similar skintone to mine who uses them? or any other recommendations? :flower:

^Yes, I have the same problem. Most light foundations are too pink for me. Ivory is the right shade, but too pink, whereas buff is usually just yellow enough but far too dark for my PPP skin. :( We need to start a club called "the yellow undertoned pale sprites" or something, lol :) Until then, I just deal with it by using a rather yellowy powder over my foundation.
