True red for the Queen!
source | artpartner.comThe Gentlewoman has selected Camilla Nickerson to be featured in their current spring issue. Accompanying the article are photographs by Mario Sorrenti and makeup by Aaron de Mey. The piece recounts Nickerson’s early days in London starting out with Sorrenti, Glen Luchford, Melanie Ward, David Sims, and Kate Moss to joining US Vogue (and continuing to contribute to the magazine for 22 years) to juggling motherhood with currently working alongside the designers at Calvin Klein, Alexander McQueen, and Céline.
Nickerson explains to journalist, Anna-Marie Solowij, that her role as a stylist and editor is to “communicate [a] mood, either in the way a woman would wear a colour or texture or how she’d stand,” she continues, “An awful lot of it comes down to asking one question: ‘What would a woman wear?’” Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton says of their work together since 2010, “There’s an emotional feeling to her work that comes out of conversations… She’s so in touch with nature, the art world, and the everyday, and she brings all those elements when she arrives.” In the text, Solowij also explores Nickerson’s discovery by Sophie Hicks, the differences of working on an editorial set versus creating a collection alongside a designer, and more.
