I agree that it looks huge for a 40cm. Is there not a rare 45cm in the HAC? Whatever it is it is beautiful, and she wears it really well.

HAC's are taller than Birkins hence the reason it looks so large....And yes I agree it's a lovely bag and she does wear it well.

:buzz:Thanks to my DH  I'm going to get myself on a Birkin wait list but haven't decided yet which colour I'll get.

I'm thinking togo, gold h/w and size 35cm which wouldn't look too ridiculous for my 5' 8" height, I hope.

Red (the one SATC-Samantha had her eyes on, remember? ), black, golden beige or camel beige?

I usually wear black, white, beige, camel, brown and pink clothing, with fuchsia, red and turquoise accessories like scarfs etc. My basic handbag style is classic Monogram LV, and quilted bags like MJ & Chanel.

chaneller,IMO for your first birkin, you either get a classic colour(black),or a truly bright and fun colour so it would stand out(red or yellow)

Fully aware of the differences between the two models. I still think it looks big for a 40cm HAC, but not claiming to be an expert at measuring with my eye. :flower:

:) As much as I love it I do feel it's kinda large for a day bag...I know from my experience with my HAC and walking and carrying it around smaller can sometimes be better (less weight....) As long as you can get your goodies all inside...Maybe Katie needs lot's and lot's of stuff like books and what have you....:woot::alien:

i'm considering getting a birkin, but i'm wondering if i'll look strange with one...
how did you all know that it was the bag for you?
and do you feel they look best on someone of a certain age/sophistication/etc.

I must admit I find your question interesting....To me an Hermes bag, esp. a Birkin or Kelly is like a universal like a Cartier or Franck Muller watch...They work on us all!!!! :D Things of such great quality that last are always a good investment.

Hi everyone! I'm new to this thread. I know the hermes herbag has been discontinued but I've been wanting to get one so badly. Does anybody know where I can get one? I don't trust ebays.

my SA told me the parchement with gold is here- he also said there is a chance of getting a JPG 42cm in white clemence, as well as a 35cm in white clemence- now im not sure....
i have 4 40cm birkins, no JPG, and I dont have any light colors with my 35cms...I know white gets dirty= but i do have other birkins- - with spring/summer.white or parchement seems so fresh....should i get the white JPG, white 35cm, instead of the 40cm parchement? I have to decide soon-
oh and the two white bags is with PH

I think you should go with your original idea of the parchemin Birkin. I don't think you will have some of the soiling issues that go along with white bags which are not very forgiving. If you want to do white, how about a combo of white clemence and toile? That is a chic and timeless combo, and IMO looks much better than just an all white bag. As far as hardware is concerned, I think either gold or palladium would work with any of the above colors.

Also wanted to mention that a member of another forum mentioned owning 3 white Hermes bags, and she had maintenance problems with all three. I actually think that toile is easier to keep clean than a white bag and I have three toile bags that I use for summer. The coating on it repels dirt.

Hope this helps!

uniq,
i agree that the white is difficult to maintain.. but to be honest, who cares ;)
its not like you will carry it every day and white is white whether birkin or any other bag.
i truly love my white clemence with PH and would buy it all over again !!!!!!

kim,
i think the birkin is so versatile and i am sure you would rock it.
i personally much prefer it with a played down look or something sophisticated but mad à la Carrie Bradshaw..
please let us know how it goes!!
oh and btw; your magenta CL is FABULOUS. i am so jealous!!!!

Okay, my first post...what is the price of this"Holy Grail" white Birkin (I feel like she has just given birth or something...) congrats I guess Leyla???? What did you name it and what did it weigh?

Parchment is a lovely color!!! All light colors are so fresh and lovely in an H leather but as you said keeping them that way is a task, esp. if you fall in love with it and use it...I've never had a toile H bag as I thought they would be hard to keep clean as well...One thing is a plus they weight a lot less when empty!!!

leyla- where have you been?!!!!
Jane I already have a toile/barenia combo-
decisions -!!! I hate to make them- I wish I can just get them all....
note to hubby if you are reading this
Im having a baby very soon..i think i deserve it

Better get it soon...word has it that after Feb.1st, 35cm basic birkin goes from $7500 to $8500...not that you'd care anyway :p
