HarperCollins has started pre-publicity on a memoir (to be released April 22, 2008) called Bringing Home the Birkin. The book details the author Michael Tonello's adventures as an eBay entrepreneur who travels all over the world, going to Hermes stores to procure "same day" Birkins for wealthy and famous clients who don't want to wait for the iconic purse.

Awfully exciting!

KASUMI...you are the best....I think I like the Blue Jean better...now another question...is Blue Roi croc darker than Blue Jean Croc? I think it is...:heart::heart:

No Probs Hermesfreak!

Anyhoo... here's a Blue Roi for reference. It is indeed lighter than the other 2
As with before, the listing doesn't say its for a matt croc, so i assume its a shiny. :-)

I love the Rakuten website. It's almost like having an Hermes catalog online. Now, if only I could read Japanese. Great site for wishing.

That tonello guy is a whack job. Don't even get me started! The things I've seen come out of his mouth-- er, from his fingers-- GAH!

thanks
if you could get a pre-owned birkin in a nice color (mind you I have quite afew birkins)
or a super rare marc jacobs croc bag thats not even 1/4 of its orig price-
which one would you get?

There is a very long thread on tPF about him... on which he actually shows up and starts verbally attacking and threatening people... a fascinating read, two thumbs up! :D

Uniq: I'd go for the pre-owned Birkin. Birkins will always be in style, super classy, and they'll last forever. Just my .02 :)

I missed that one.. Eek!

The only good thing about the book is that it is hard evidence, IMO, that the Birkin as fad/trend is beyond over.
