The only good thing about the book is that it is hard evidence, IMO, that the Birkin as fad/trend is beyond over.

Greetings everybody! I have been a long-time tfs reader but I always hesitate to post! You guys are so fun to read about and this is such a friendly forum, so I know I can get help here! I am really wanting to take the Birkin plunge and I am looking for advice. I am dying for a black 35cm Birkin (maybe boring to some but a classic to me). I was at my local boutique about a year and a half ago and casually asked about a Birkin and the SA coyly smiled and asked me to follow her. She sat me and my bf down in back and then brought us some sparking water. (I'm guessing she took me slightly seriously because I made sure to arrive in a pair of my Louboutins and my new (at the time) MJ Stam bag). The SA then retrieved two large orange boxes; one contained a 35cm in Brighton Blue (I believe that is the right name, it was a rich dark blue) and the other contained a 32 HAC in the "blue jean" blue. I know that everyone here might call me crazy but after a good 20 minutes of "trying them on" and deliberation, I passed on both. I was so close to getting the blue 35cm (which I feel is the perfect size) but my wardrobe has mostly black, grey, ivory and white and I thought that if I am going to spend the money I really want black (at least to start - lol). I honestly don't regret passing on them, but I am worried that that may have been my only chance to get a Birkin. Since then, I was working with another SA buying some bracelets and scarves and I mentioned the birkin again. He smiled and said they had an ostrich bag in natural (for much much more that I can afford) if I was interested but again I passed. He did bring me to his book and jotted down my contact info and that I am looking for a 35cm in black textured leather. He then laughed and said he might call in 3 months or 3 years and that is how the Birkin works. My question is this - is there anything I can do to hear back sooner? I am smart enough to know that the SAs call their loyal customers (like you guys) far sooner than a casual shopper like me and I know that a black Birkin won't ever last for long (especially if the SA is calling many more people before he gets to me). I have heard that if you are loyal to an SA and try to make consistent Hermes purchases through them that they will call sooner. I just don't want to blow my Birkin budget on scarves and other leather goods in order to get a Birkin sooner (and then have no budget for the actual Birkin). I know this might seem like a silly post, but does anyone have suggestions or at least advice for someone in my position? You guys are great and I look forward to hearing back!
Also, for readers who are Hermes rookies like me I have to comment on how AMAZING the customer service is at Hermes. I am a constant victim of age-ism just because I am in my 20s and even at a place like Chanel they follow me as though I am not to be trusted (even when I arrive wearing Chanel!) At Hermes, they have always taken their time and been so helpful and funny and patient. I wish I had more disposable income to shop there because they treat EVERYONE so well!

My only advice to you is to keep on dropping in at your local H store...buy little things (but dont blow your birkin budget)...ask about the status of your bag etc....thats the only way...and a 35cm black isnt hard to get - they make it everyseason...so you should get yours soon..

Its weird to hear because your in your 20s you get treated differently at stores, im in my 20s and have no problem, heck, the first time i went into hermes to buy my first birkin i was in my teens, its all about confidence!!
