^^Leave the vibrato in the trunk of your car in a shopping bag. LOL!! Really beautiful bag!

As for ebene, one would think that Hermes must have another very dark brown up their sleeve. These boards are such rumor mills!

isnt HAVANE very dark too?
from what ive seen it is... i loved it and was on the fence for it as it was available but went for etoupe. :)

great bag!! congrats on the vibrato! ;)

great bag!! congrats on the vibrato! ;)

Leyla, I thought that Havane was a bit lighter and more toasty brown looking. Ebene looks like the darkest of browns and almost black.

hmmm.. i wouldnt mind a Havane now that we are talking bout it :)
actually a dark one in general. i think a black/gold hardware should be good now :brows:

Leyla_M - black with GHW is a must!

Like Jane Tudor states - Havanne and Ebene are very different colours on the brown spectrum. For Ebene think Ebony - the very, very, very dark wood that appears almost black. I think of Ebene as a cool colour. Whereas Havanne is a much warmer, lighter brown and has more orangey cognacy tones.

That is a really good description! Both are beautiful:flower:

thanks grill,
thats what i thought ;)
i guess ebene is the darkest and havane is how i imagined it. still dark but warm

The raisin is gorgeous!! I'd love a piece in that color!

Thanks for the compliments & congrats everyone! I think I'll debut it next weekend after some of my other(non-H) bags are safely consigned.^_^

Ooh yes raisin! I saw a beautiful Box calf raisin Kelly 32 in the window of George V Hermes late yesterday price 4100 euros. Its such a beautiful colour!

While still going back and forth between rouge G and Etoupe - have decided to get both! My mother said I needed! both as the colours are sooo different! - I noticed that almost all of the time here in Paris I see in winter Black birkins & in summer Gold. V, v rarely colour! It seems a little staid and safe to me ....although chic.

Hey ladies! Am glad to see and hear about some new bag purchases. Congratulations! I've been traveling in Ireland the last two weeks and visited the Hermes branch in Dublin. It's an in-store boutique in Brown Thomas on Grafton Street. While I was there they had a lovely 37cm Bolide in Havane which I looked over but decided not to take (the current exchange rate is just too painful). I also believe I saw a 32 cm Kelly in Rouge Garance, plus a few Paris-Bombay bags. The sales manager for that branch is Ruth (can't find her card so I don't have her last name) who was very helpful, she also mentioned they had more bags in the back.

I ended up coming home with something I could easily pack, an orange cashmere scarf.

hermes_lemming: I've never even tried to purchase a Birkin at the San Francisco Hermes, nor have I asked to place a special order through them. Having only been a client there for the past two years I haven't established myself enough yet.

Would your mother like to adopt me? :) You are so lucky! She is very generous. I must be a Parisian at heart, yes to the black and gold comments. Yes they are safe, and always out there any time you decide to get one of them. Rouge and etoupe sound fabby! How about raisin;)

LaurieAnn, I know the exchange rate is killing the buying power of the $$. Your shawl was great idea. A souvenir of your trip and easy to pack! What pattern did you get?

Laboheme - Your Birkin is fabulous!

I just returned from Paris and the FSH boutique only had white and gold in 35cm. If I didn't already have a gold in 30cm, I would have snatched it up. Oh well ... next time!

Not sure if this has been posted...

Hermes Matte Crocodile Birkin - $120,000

That is a crazy price!

Last time I checked, a year ago, a 40cm HAC in gris ostrich was around 16000 but I don't know the price now...anyway, it's funny how the dollar depreciation made the birkins cheaper in the states...5100 eu= 7574 us for a 35 cm while the current price in the US is 7500...75 is not much but still...I'm expecting the price adjustment by Jan to be over 500 *fingers crossed
