Okay so this might sound dumb but I've been seeing posts floating around the internet about Cinna's sexuality, like if he's gay or not. So I'm sort of curious, when you read the books did you think Cinna was straight, gay, bi, or did it never cross your mind? I think part of the reason why people assumed his character was gay was because he's a fashion designer, which is a stereotype for the most part. When I read the books the thought never crossed my mind, I honestly never thought about what his sexuality was, but apparently lot's of other people did. So now I'm wondering did I miss something or are people overreacting?

I never really thought about Cinna's sexuality - nor do I think it's really important to the story. He's just such a calm character. I love the casting of Lenny Kravitz for the role - I've got my fingers crossed he'll be great.

If that really is the cornucopia it looks quite different than I imagined....I thought it was supposed to be on a pedestal? But maybe I just made that up in my head.

I don't know, for some reason I always thought that the cornucopia was gold and looked that the traditional ones used at thanksgiving. I guess they are giving it a modern feel. Not sure how I feel about it but i'm going to try and wait until the film to pass judgement (because it could look different on screen/post editing). And thanks everyone for answering my question about Cinna, glad to see I wasn't the only one who never really thought about his sexuality when reading the books. I was so worried that I had missed something though!

oh wowzers those pictures are seriously exciting me! I'm agreeing with most of you about the look of the Cornucopia. With the details from the book still fresh in my mind, Suzanne's description of the cornucopia was that it was gold. In my head, I was thinking something like this:

made of thick metal and gold coloured. On a pedestal, of course!

Perhaps it was easier to build it this way-it's a lot easier to construct something through imagination than it is building it in real life. if we're going to get technical about every little thing we're going to be disappointed pretty quickly- and that's no way to be. I remember being like that for the earlier HP films just because I knew the books so well, and it really took away from a film I should have really enjoyed had I been a little more 'relaxed' about the finer details.

It's only now that I'm reading posts about Cinna's sexuality that I'm thinking about it! Another thing to add about why I like the books- the book really focuses on character and doesn't bind readers to certain stereotypes, nor does it try to enforce it.

If i remember well, the participants start in a circle around the cornucopia and run to it. If the cornucopia is like that and has only one entrance, then the 30% of the players have an advantage regarding the others.

I agree not everything will be how it's imagined in the book - I don't care whether the cornucopia is gold/silver/purple/etc. I just thought it was on a pedestal because they had to climb up the pedestal the cornucopia sits on in the final arena scenes? Though I suppose they could just climb the cornucopia itself. I'm such a nerd - can't believe I'm even debating this

As most of you said I didn't really think of Cinna's sexuality either when reading the books...One other thing that I didn't really thought about was the Peeta-Katniss-Gale triangle.At least not until the 3rd book. But somehow the movie seems to be all about it considering that in the official poster there are the three of them. I really don't want the "ship" wars to start already.I mean in the first book the love triangle doesn't even exist!

Hmm...I actually saw the triangle ever since Peeta was chosen to compete in the HG. I think there are enough elements in the first book (the way gale behaves towards her & how she has doubts abot the nature of their relationship) for the triangle to form...

i agree that it was there from the beginning, but it was just a small part of the book. i hope the movie doesn't focus too much on that, it's so boring, there are more important topics they could focus on.

And just to clarify what I was saying above because re-reading it, it's not that clear I was suggesting that Peeta and Gale each represent a different part of Katniss, and so her decision on who to go for says something about who she is or who she wants to be. If that's any more clear
