The Last Movie You Saw?

Jeune & Jolie: I was somewhat disappointed by this film after watching Ozon's "Swimming Pool". I didn't really understand the lead's motivation. Just seemed like an excuse to showcase a beautiful young woman willingly have sex with old men. Also, other than getting ripped off by one of her customers, there was no signs of the dangers that she could have faced as a "freelance" prostitute which again romanticized the idea as some kind of youthful rebellion.

Blue Is the Warmest Color: After seeing her name everywhere on the forum, I decided to finally watch one of Léa Seydoux's movies. The story was well told, Adèle's journey was very engaging. I don't have any problems watching a 3-hour film, but every scene seemed 2-3 minutes too long. I also wasn't aware that the sex scenes were that explicit! Prosthetics or not, I'm always amazed when "legit" actors are so daring.

Palo Alto... I feel like I've seen this film a million times before, except PA took the most mundane aspects and characters of those movies and mashed them together. I can't even remember the last time I watched a film without engaging in at least one character's story, what they think or what happens to them. Seriously, this film totally missed the mark. It didn't get interesting until the last 10 minutes.

By contrast, I also watched Speak which at times was bordering on a Lifetime movie. However I actually cared about what happened to the characters, even the minor ones. How they acted and spoke rang true to me, unlike PA which just seemed like what one would think angsty teenagers would sound like. It also let certain character dynamics unfold naturally instead of hitting the viewer over the head.

In your eyes. Really bad. Such a shame, I trusted Whedon's script but this one is not good.
