The PPID discount from MAC is not only for hairdressers, but for any professional who works with cosmetics, so make up artists, hair dressers, nail technicians, etc.
You have to apply for it though.. They don't give you the discount just like that.
IM doing ok, Im sick with a cold or flu thing right now. To day I am at home being a vegetable with a stuffy nose. Hope you are doing better than me.... Miss u!
UMM ok yeah so anyways, u cant just walk into a MAC store and say HERE, I am a hairdresser, let me have thirty percent off....
You have to go and apply for membership and then once you get your blue and white MAC PPID membership card THEN u may waltz into a mac store and say HI, Im a hairdresser (orwhatever) Id like my 30% off please.....
To get your PPID you need a company card... It's not like you go to a ProStore and just by showing your company card you can the discount. You must first apply to get the PPID and pay a fee for it.
Once you have the card, you can but MAC products with 30% discount from the ProStores and some counters, but not ALL counters.
I asked a make-up artist about the discounts and she said as a model if I show my comp card at MAC boutiques I can get 20% off. As a make-up artist, she gets 40% off. MAC isn't the only company that does this. But it is mostly the individual boutiques, Sephora will not discount.
the disount to mua's is %40 off and anyone else in the industry either actors,mo dels, or singers, etc. get 30% off! ribes is absolutely correct, you can't just walk into a store and show them a business card or license to get your discount. it used to be like that but there were too many people making fake business cards and getting away with it so they changed their rules and regulations. now you have to mail in proof of work and any involvement with "the industry" and pay a fee of i think $30 us and then in about 1 or 2 months you will receive your ppid card!!! its not so easy anymore! and there is no 20% off anywhere and if there is then that is not legal and if the artist in the pro store is caught giving this discount to "models" then they will be in big trouble!!!! it is only a 30% and 40% discount.
what if you are a rep for a salon distributor? do you think you could get a card that way? you are involved in the industry, but you don't actually do anything like hair or make-up on ppl.
What you can do is try calling a MAC store (not a counter in a dept store) and ask if they have applications there. If not they should be able to direct you on how to get one. If not I believe the email address is [email protected]. But emailing some times does have a slower response time. Remember that it is based out of Canada so that once you send in all your paperwork it will take about 6 weeks to recieve your card.
