My sister is getting married and she's been asking me what she should get: all from MAC or diversify. I told her to diversify since a lot of other companies put out a lot of cute stuff like NARS, Smashbox and Bare Minerals, Benefit...etc.

So, if someone can compile me a "perfect" make-up collection, your fantasy collection, from MAC and other brands, I would be grateful. Including brushes, of course!

I think it depends on her skintype, her colouring and her personal taste. Does she like shimmer or more discrete makeup?
I don't think you can stick to one brand anyway - my favourite mascara is from Maybelline, and that is the only thing I own from that brand. Honestly, I think it's all crap except for that one mascara :D
MAC is great, but their foundations make a lot of people break out. Their mascaras aren't supposed to be very good either.
I don't think that there is such a thing as a perfect make up collection. She needs to find the products that suits her.

Ok... Let's assume this is not about my sister, but about you. Forget skintype...etc. What's everyone's fantasy make-up collection? Then we can pick and choose!

Okay ^_^ I think that I do have my fantasy makeup collection, actually.

I don't use foundation, I have pretty clear skin.
I use two concealers for my dark circles - Helena Rubinstein Magic Concealer for light coverage (on good days) and MAC Studio Finish Concealer on bad days.
The concealer brush is VERY important - right now I'm using one from Helena Rubinstein, but I am going to switch to Make Up Store.
I use Guerlain Les Meteorites powder for the face - not all over the face, just the t-zone.
I use an eyelash curler every day. I have one from Shiseido, it's pretty great.
My favourite mascara is Sky High Curves from Maybelline - it doesn't smudge, it can hold a curl and it seperates the lashes.
For eyebrows, I use hairspray to set them and an eyebrow pencil from YSL. It has the most perfect light grey colour - blondes shouldn't use brown eyebrow pencils at all.
I don't use blush every day. Sometimes I use powder blush from MAC in Coygirl - it's great for contouring and it also gives a nice glow.
Sometimes I use Tinted Glow Enhancer from The Body Shop. It's nice and subtle.
For eyeliner (I don't use it very often) I have Terracotta Loose Powder Khol from Guerlain in brown. It takes some getting used to, but it's very subtle.

I'm thinking of buying Sculpt and Shape powder from MAC. The highlighting part isn't very shimmer-y, more like a beauty powder. I'm really not much of a shimmer person these days.

Thanks, Ida! That was pretty helpful. I've heard good things about the Shiseido lash curler before.

It's made for asian eyes - I'm not asian, but I do have narrow oriental-looking eyes. It suits me very well

For me, a fantasty makeup collection is one that works the best for me and makes me look my best. I never thought I would say this, but after years of experimenting, I do have my fantasy collection! Since you wanted us to share our fantasy collection, here is what I have:

Foundation, blush, eyeshadow, concealer all from Everyday Minerals
Lipgloss- Chanel, Nars, MAC
Dr. Pepper Lip Smackers- gives my lips a really nice red tint and is more moisturizing than BeneTint
Eyeliner- Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner
Clear Radiance by Bare Minerals- gives a childlike glow
Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler
Tweezerman Tweezers
Maybelline Great Lash Mascara

That's what I need so I do not scare people every morning. :flower:

cosmo, I'm sure people would be wowed by you with or without your makeup on!

Clear radiance sounds promising! Also, somehow I'm very intrigued by NARS products.

Well, aren't you sweet! :flower: Clear Radiance is great. It is in mineral powder form (though BE insists that is is not a powder). I sweep it on my nose and cheeks over blush and on my temples. It would be gorgeous on your sister's wedding day (though I am sure she will have a natural glow on that special day). I also have Pure Radiance and Bare Radiance which are gorgeous, but they add a bit of color, IMO. I have Nars Orgasm lip gloss, and I like it because it is not sticky. I hate when a gust of wind comes and my hair is stuck to my lips!

You're a very thoughtful sister!

Haha, well, I try! Her wedding day is on the 2nd of May 08, and she is already stressing out big time. So whatever eases her worries a bit...

Nars Orgasm lip gloss sounds great, too! I'll be sure to tell her. Thanks for the input!
