The Most You've Ever Spent On A Single Item?

my Birkin bag...I used part of last year's bonus to buy it. I still can't believe I bought it.

Now I want another one, but I don't think I'll be able to buy it unless I sell this one...sigh.

a $1000 Betony Vernon bracelet...completely unsure if it was worth it..

followed by..

a $750 Ann D. sweater..completely sure it was definitely NOT worth it..

my most expensive item.. dior boots.. $600. Also my least used item.. hmm.

thats nothing compared to almost everyone else on this page

I think I paid slightly less for a coat 10 years ago. I may have posted to this thread a few years back but dont remember. :p

I'm with rollagasper, I cant stand cheap crap now that I found TFS! Not that I would spend $2k for a purse, but there is a middle ground.

$1000 on a Dior Homme jacket. Only 1/3 of the original price, I think.

$230 on my 30gb iPod!

although, apple made the 80gb the same price 2 weeks later.

I'm wary of getting too easy with my money these days. So, I'm trying to stick to the Barney's Co-op level of spending; any more than that, I'll won't be able to make rent.

Regardless, I guess it'll be my A.P.C. trench for $427.

$600 on my phone... haha and as for clothes it would be $350 on jeans. Bear in mind im on a measly allowance and I really need a part-time job!

i live in new york and go to parsons. as far as i can see, the most expensive things a parson kid own, hang in their wardrobe - your apartment is all you have, and the clothes are all they see..!

living in new york, you don't generally get the luxury of spending below 2-300 for any single article of clothing unless you shop at sample sales or are hooked up in the industry. even so, its hard to get exactly what you want... especially considering how sample sales have gone to ****s lately!

but most ridiculous purchase, a $1100 emmett mccarthy coat i got in nolita at retail price that i wore once. yes, its that project runway guy. and no, i don't know what possessed me to spend that much on a project runway graduate coat. it was only cashmere.

When I was younger and still under the financial care of my father, I didn't even care how much my clothes cost (apparently a lot). But ever since I turned 15 and got myself emancipated from him, I learnt the value of money. I do not browse, I go in the store with a specific item to buy, and if I find it I get it and get out. That saved me quite a bit of money. Unlike my mother who buys tons of things, I only get like one or two new items every five months or so. The last expensive thing I bought (with my own money) was a custom red leather double breasted jacket. It cost me $500, but it was my absolute favorite red, fit perfectly, and kept me so warm. I also bought a pair of Valentino leather gloves, around $300. I only spend on things that will last me for a long time. I'm not so much into trends.

As far as designer items went, I once wore a vintage yellow Versace cocktail dress (perhaps the most beautifully simple dress I would ever wear on my skin. The fabric was stunning, a sweet gleaming sparkling yellow with no itchiness. The cut fit perfectly along my body. I have remained a fan of Gianni Versace ever since). I returned the dress immediately though, my father's assistant borrowed it for me.

I guess my wedding dress was my most expensive purchase. I'm having it altered so I can wear it again, but I can't remember how much I paid for it originally. Recently, my most expensive purchase is the CP Company trench coat for my husband that was about $1000 and that is wrapped under the tree!

zionforsell - a decent leather jacket is a MUST so good for you (it sounds lovely)

My Tod's Kate tote. With the awesome discount I was able to use it was $808 (including shipping and whatnot). It was originally $1200 so I thought it was a good deal. I really, really wanted my own purse too that would hold everything I wanted, and I've always been envious of people with Tod's bags. It's something I definitely don't regret buying though. It's the most perfect bag!

hmmm... my diamond jewelry
rings, necklaces, bracelets, bangles, pendants etc

jeans and shoes usually have to be designer. There's such a big difference between the designers and the cheaper stuff..

$280 on a pair of jeans and I don't regret it at all.
$80 on a sweater
$90 on a blazer

Other than jeans and a few I-have-the-get-items, I don't really spend more than $40 on a top. $60 on a jacket. and $90 on a dress.
