Somehow it strikes me as odd that girl barely out of her teens is named Sexiest Woman Alive by a magazine read primarily by men in their 30s - 40s. She's a stunning girl but this cover does her no favors, hopefully the pictures inside will be better.

I agree with this. My first thought was that she looks like she was caught just before or after stretching and yawning. I know it's probably supposed to look sexy in a lazy, effortless sort of way, but I don't think they executed it very well. I think Scarlett's a beautiful girl, and surely they could have taken a better photo of her, especially if it's for the cover itself?

It's not odd, it's sad. It's amazing that a 21 year-old lands this spot...no matter how mature for your age you are.

They really do not do her justice on this cover. THIS is the shot they choose for their Sexiest Woman Alive!? She doesn't look great on the front by any measure. Quite a disappointing cover.

scarlett is beautiful, but that shot does her no justice....

On that cover she looks short and with huge hips ... not good.

That shot does the girl no justice. Her body is great - but why did they spoil it with going for a slouchy pose? She looks like she's drunk and she's just lost a shoe, and is stumbling around in her tennis gear.

Spare me from the hair! And my first impression from the fifth shot is that she was eating a human finger. I don't think I want to see these images ever again.

The hair isn't great... at first it didn't bother me, it was pretty late 70's... but Esquire comes across as so cheap.
