The irony is that the edit which you're referring to is actually the more commercial front section content, meaning it is specifically created to encourage sales. LOL.
I like the casting and styling in the NY story, but not the execution.

I honestly don't know who reads GQ France, and I'm sure they're teetering on the brink of extinction in these trying times.

I want to blame the EIC, the fashion director and fashion editors. It is a shame because GQ France could have been major.

Most of men fashion brands that are relevant are French. A GQ french more dapper and then a GQ style with a big fashion content, some guest editor (Slimane, KVA, VA, etc) would have drive sales.

But no they go for the pedestrian Uniqlo lookbook aesthetic with some horrible casting (this model above does not sell a dream or fantasy to me).

UPDATE : I checked who is the EIC, they are doomed . The content makes more sense to me now.

Benn98 & others, i wonder how difficult it is to find some editorial features from japanese mags online, for instance popeye? i always lusted aftem them. the top notch features, the cute little illustrations, spot on styling and everything. you don't find this level of perfection in western media whatsoever.

Benn98 & others, i wonder how difficult it is to find some editorial features from japanese mags online, for instance popeye? i always lusted aftem them. the top notch features, the cute little illustrations, spot on styling and everything. you don't find this level of perfection in western media whatsoever.

From my side, I'd say finding those magazines in digital format and translating the credits is difficult. You'd have to know what to look for and where to look for it (I actually came across this issue of Popeye by chance, the title for the PDF wasn't in English.) MDNA translates the credits for every issue of Vogue China ahead of posting which helps a lot, and GQ China posts about 5 edits per issue, but if you don't know Chinese you could probably only source credits featuring Western models/photographers via their Instagram posts. So it's probably better overall if a native Japanese/Chinese speaker could post the content (if they're able to find digital magazines.)

Popeye does seem like a cool magazine though, and I actually like their straight-forward styling, some of it is very much my everyday wear. And now I find it more worrying that I dress like a 14-year old Japanese boy!?!
