The Official Teen Magazine Thread

from fwd:

Teen Vogue’s December issue is going to be double the fun: sources say Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen recently sat for two different December covers of the Condé Nast teen title. Though the twins, who starred in the Badgley Mischka ad campaign this past spring, are rarely apart, the two definitely know how to stand on their own. Ashley made a splash on the July 2005 cover of Harper’s Bazaar, setting the bar for seeing the pair in singular form. Mary Kate soon followed suit on the cover of W this past January, and will grace the cover of Paper magazine’s December issue as well, as part of a story with fellow Factory Girl castmate and boho pioneer Sienna Miller. Though Mary Kate interned with Annie Leibovitz, it’s highly unlikely that the famed shutterbug shot the twins for Teen Vogue. A spokeswoman for the magazine had no comment.

October Seventeen - Hilary Duff (who also guest edits)

ONTD

Is it just me or does the October Hilary Duff cover look a lot like the cover they did with Alexis Bledel? (except I think Alexis Bledel looks much prettier on the cover :flower: )

Hilary Duff is going where no one has gone since Atoosa Rubenstein took over Seventeen in summer 2003. The pint-sized actress set up camp in Rubenstein's office for three days while she guest edited the October issue, on newsstands Tuesday. Duff, Seventeen's first-ever guest editor under Rubenstein, was named editor in chief on the October masthead; Rubenstein, meanwhile, relegated herself to the role of Hilary's Helper.

Of course, the hands-on Rubenstein was hesitant to put her magazine at the fingers of another editor, much less a celebrity. "I was making light of it, thinking she was going to be a big bonehead, but I was totally shocked at the girl I encountered," said Rubenstein of Duff's role. Duff also was qualified for the job being that she is an 18-year-old girl transitioning to a woman, just like Seventeen's readers. "This is a girl who could connect to our reader," said the 34-year-old Rubenstein. "I'm not quite there at the precipice like she is." Moreover, Rubenstein was in the office for just one of the three days Duff was "working," which also likely helped smooth the transition of power.

While Duff did not line edit manuscripts, she sat in on editorial meetings, worked with editors on fashion shoots and contributed advice and tidbits throughout Seventeen's pages. Duff was especially passionate about doing a piece on money management with financial expert Suze Orman and providing excerpts of her favorite book, "The Prophet." She created a Most Embarrassing Moments page with responses from A-list celebrities. And for the magazine's Sept. 14 to Sept. 23 eBay charity handbag auction supporting three cancer organizations, Duff chose the charities and helped wrangle celebrity participants. (Her influence is felt in the ad pages, as well — a promotion for Duff's new fragrance, With Love, is coincidentally featured within the fashion well.)

Since a teen magazine these days cannot exist without flashy Internet offerings — see Elle Girl's and Teen People's shutterings to refocus on the Web — the October issue has a ton of digital accoutrements. AOL shot behind-the-scenes footage of Duff's office experience on its three channels while the magazine's MySpace page will launch a guest-editing contest where five girls could have an opportunity to help Rubenstein edit an upcoming issue. Rubenstein notes the winners will contribute ideas, but not participate to the level that Duff did: "They won't be coming to New York." Seventeen.com will feature a cheerful video greeting from Duff about the special issue and how to subscribe. Future cover models Teddy Geiger and Paris Hilton also will be featured in similar interactive promotions.

^suits Seventeen...I was flipping through really old Seventeens (Atoosa wasn't the editor yet) and their editorials were much better. They had editorials with Caroline Trentini and this other model...forgot her name...
About that Hilary Duff cover...wow, I'd really love to read about how to get prettier and richer:rolleyes::yuk: What the hell, how to make online love work? :ninja: Is the magazine encouraging young girls to have a romance with people they meet on the internet? Gosh, there are sex offenders on myspace and such websites that pose as teen boys so they could meet up with girls:shock: It doesn't help that some young girls post up "sexy" and "risque" pictures on myspace. :o:ninja: [Did anyone see that SNL skit about myspace with host Julia Louis-Dreyfuss)

i was going to sign up for it but you have to be an aspiring designer. you have to send them a picture of your sketches. i want to work in the fashion industry but not be a designer. i don't really think its fair.

I adore Teen Vogue - it's my favorite teen magazine to curl up with. I have a subscription to Seventeen - a gift from my aunt. It used to be enjoyable to look through, and even pick up a few good tidbits here and there, but now I barely scan it. The magazine has become quite laughable and teenage cliche. It's sweet of my aunt to buy it for me, but I'd love to think of a polite way to get the hint to her that, in fact, I'd much prefer Teen Vogue or Ellegirl.

dakota in teen vogue...this seems odd.shes a child!not even a pre-teen.nd thy dressed her up in grown up clothes......so odd

seventeen absolutely stinks now. its just adverts for walmart clothing and other cheap poorly made clothing. the fashion spreads are horribly styled.
