The Official Teen Magazine Thread

I think Teen-Vogue has gone wayyy down hill. I mean Willa Holland and Emma Roberts? I remember when it used to be really quite good, not just the cover choices but the editorials and everything else around May 2004- Sep 2005
I feel the same way, it seems they've been targetting tweens more than teens lately.

^I agree. I love Teen Vogue, but their cover stars are too young now. But, I still like their editorials :)
Princesse- I think a few of the editorials are on Teen Vogue's website.

I used to have my sister's old issues, but I think they were accidentally thrown out during cleaning. Was that when Rachel Bilson and Mischa Barton had their first covers? And Scarlett Johanson with Topher Grace?
I'm not sure but I remember some of the older issues had summery editorials with models like Cameron Russell and they had a great summer vibe and I loved it. I wish I still had them. Although I still love Teen Vogue and think the style featured is better, it seems a bit more trend-oriented now.

Are we allowed to post/exchange scans or pictures of old issues' editorials, features, etc? Because if yes, I would absolutely appreciate if anyone could link or post those!! Karma in return!!

^^ No offense, but I can't even remember a single captivating cover. Some are cute, some are just terrible--but none of them are memorable. :(

I'll love them to do a little more. They have a great staff and as the sister-magazine of Vogue--they could do really well!

I agree that Teen Vogue is not as good as it used to be. In fact, I believe that is true for all teen magazines nowadays. I can actually remember when Seventeen or CosmoGirl! used to have amazing fashion features and articles just a few years ago. And does anyone else remember YM? That was another good one. Now it's a bunch of ridiculous true life stories and Abercrombie & Fitch-style clothes. And I don't recognize half the cover stars anymore.

Of course, I believe this also means that I'm getting old. I started reading Seventeen when I was about 10, and I'm in college now. Prom issues and articles about first dates, first cars, taking the SAT, etc aren't for me anymore. Sadly, I think I'm pretty much done with these magazines. My Seventeen subscription ran out last year, my Teen Vogue subscription will run out in a month or so, and CosmoGirl! will follow soon.

If I could though, I know I would still subscribe to my beloved ElleGirl. I'm never too old for that mag.

I'll still check them out at the newstand (after all, I might work for one of them someday!), but I'm trading in my subscriptions for mags like Elle, Glamour, and Nylon. It honestly makes me really sad to leave these behind, but it's time.

^^ I though ElleGirl fell out of print after the Adam cover. Sory....

I know. All teen magazines--and most American prints are too commercial now and focus on celebrities instead of fashion or issues I actually care about.

I really miss Elle Girl as well, it was very sophisticated and substantial considering it was a teen magazine! How such a periodical doesn't survive but stuff like Cosmogirl does is beyond me.

I like cosmogirl. I really prefered ElleGirl before it went out of business, for their fashion editorials. But I just shot cosmo girl a few weeks ago, and it was surprisingly not annoying. I didn't have to smile ().

Thank you, I'm trying to ID one of the models.
On the topic of the covers, I've been dissapointed lately. Is Teen Vogue simply not able to secure interesting cover girls, or are they shooting for a younger target audience? Either way is not very reassuring.

Who do you think they should put on their covers? I was thinking maybe Ellen Page or Bryce Dallas Howard.

I'd like to see Teen Vogue put another model on the cover, like they did with Gemma Ward a few years ago. Maybe Chanel Iman or Ali Michael.

Its funny that we are talking about this, because on Teen Vogue's website, the bookings editor just posted on her blog a post about the US Vogue model cover. And she asked if we (the readers) would like to see more models on their covers. But I would not like to see Chanel on the cover, even if she is the obvious choice.

No comment. :ninja:
