The Official Teen Magazine Thread

I am so happy- a band I am friends with got into ElleGirl!!!!

They are called Shiragirl, and they mention them in the events section for their Gritty in Pink tour.

Just when ElleGirl gets good, well better, it goes bye bye.

Hey can someone check the new Ellegirl for an ed with two models named Lee and Nora?..and scan them? They go to my school and I just wanted to see it. TIA.:flower:

i didn't know that ellegirl was really ceasing publication. noo! :( i agree that it was getting good too. sigh. i don't really like the idea of a digital mag, since i spend enough time online already :p i like to sit down and flip through the pages, drinking stuff and sniffing the sample perfumes. lol.

i get teenvogue, and for some reason i've never really loved it. i like it though. creative and all that, and they always cover those socialite girls and expensive fashions. maybe that's never been my sort of thing.

cosmogirl my subscription ended but it was one of my favourites since it was so quirky and there were articles of substance. must renew soon  although i'm not too happy about j.s in their new issue. :o

teenpeople was celeb oriented and i just never bothered to renew since i was broke at the time and since i didn't care much for that magazine anyway.

i'm thinking of not renewing my seventeen when the times comes. the fashion in there is typical teenage mall stuff, and i read it for some of the other articles. but the magazine has lost it's edge. i miss atoosa at cg too.

Its werid i never read these magazines ... well the teen ones i read them as a kid like 7 or 8 .. then went stright onto adult ones .. to be honest they annoy me slightly .. all the how to get a boy in 4 days etc. ... im just like hey i knwo all that crap just show me the fashion pages lol =]

Overall: This issue is a lot better than the last 2. It seems that Atoosa got my nasty letter about the March issue with LiLo. It's worth picking up for the fiction, Class of 2006 special (if you're graduating this year, like I am ;) ), and all the swimsuit coverage. 5 out of 10 stars

^omg that was you peacelover! that is hilarious! i totally agree with what you said!

^Oh, no! I think I was misleading - my letter is not the one that was published. But I did write one, and it was a lot nastier than the one that was published, which is why they probably didn't publish it.

Sorry for the confusion.

^Unfortunately, no, I didn't make a copy. But basically it said how disappointed I am in Atoosa because I think she did a great job at CosmoGirl!, how stupid they are to put Lindsay Lohan on the cover, and how their articles have become really shallow and insulting, and then I threatened to cancel my subscription.

Yep. That was pretty much the gist. ^_^

Mandy moore is breathtaking to look at. She is very warm in the photos...she makes wears the clothes with such poise. I wish I looked like her! I think she should do more editorial work like she used to

A mock-up cover of Deluxe.
SEVENTEEN GOES DELUXE: The failure of Seventeen's reality series to earn a second season on MTV hasn't diminished the title's appetite for brand extensions. This fall, Hearst will publish the first installment of Deluxe, a Seventeen supplement about "West Coast luxury fashion," according to editor in chief Atoosa Rubenstein. The 24-page outsert will be polybagged with the September issue and will go out to subscribers who live in households with an income of at least $75,000. (Another 50,000 copies will be distributed at retail.)

Deluxe's editor will be stylist-to-the-stars Rachel Zoe, whom Rubenstein calls "an old friend of mine." "Her vision has been mostly living art," she added, in a rather grand reference to Zoe's celebrity clientele. "I thought it would be fun to put that on paper and do a project around it." Naturally, one of Zoe's clients, Nicole Richie, will be on the cover, shot by the singly named photographer Tesh. The fashions highlighted will be "very Robertson Boulevard, very insider-y," promised Rubenstein.

The idea of a magazine produced only for Seventeen's wealthiest readers is somewhat at odds with the big-tent approach Rubenstein has pursued since taking over the magazine in 2003. She acknowledged that, saying, "That's why we're not calling it Seventeen," but added, "We are constantly, through our various brand extensions, talking to various portions of our readership. I always liken Seventeen to Central Park: It's the place to be for young people, but within it there are various niches." Like, young people whose parents buy them a new Lexus when they turn 16.

(Speaking of brand extensions, Sabrina Weill, a former editor in chief of Seventeen who returned to the magazine last year as special projects editor, overseeing extensions, is leaving again. Her duties will be assumed by Elizabeth Dye, formerly a publicist for Seventeen and Cosmopolitan.)

Deluxe isn't the first magazine concept Rubenstein has worked up as a potential Seventeen spin-off. Last fall, she let slip plans for a new lifestyle title called Orchid, which would have a more sophisticated and offbeat sensibility than Seventeen. (Rubenstein has described herself during her high school years as "an orchid among carnations.") She said Wednesday that swapping out Orchid for Deluxe was a simple business decision: "Orchid didn't necessarily make sense for the opportunities that were out there." Rubenstein declined to comment further on the matter, but sources who know her speculated about a possible connection between the shelving of Orchid and the negotiations over her contract, which is up for renewal this summer. Might she be keeping the concept in reserve as a hedge against future unemployment?

^Thanks for the info on Deluxe peacelover142002
It will be interesting to see what Rachel Zoe comes up with.

That Seventeen one with Emmy Rossum looks interesting! I might buy that one (I think Emmy is really good - I loved her in Phantom of the opera).

My ultimate teen-mag favorite would be Teen Vogue, though. It's so nice. :)

oh my gotta buy the last ellegirl issue
