Prada Mobile Phone

NEVER one to do anything by halves, Prada has hooked up with South Korea's LG Electronics to produce the most advanced, and most fashionable, mobile phone on the market. "As we do with ready-to-wear and accessories, we were looking at a breakthrough. Consistent with our approach, we are not branding an existing product," said Prada's president Patrizio Bertelli, adding that the phone would have a "very strong character and unique style". Available early next year in Europe, the product will then go on sale in Asia and arrive in South Korea by the second quarter of 2007. LG Electronics has promised a sophisticated phone with an advanced-touch interface which eliminates the conventional keypad. "We are passionate about developing exclusive phones that appeal to consumers' desire to express their personality through their choice of mobile and feel very strongly that Prada shares this belief," president Park Mun-Hwa told reporters.

(MILAN) Prada is going wireless. The Italian fashion and accessories house has partnered with South Korea-based LG Electronics to develop an iconic mobile phone to be released in early 2007. The first Prada telephone by LG will combine high-end technology with avant-garde design, to create a forward-thinking product whose focus is on the key elements inside the phone, such as software, user interface, and music, as well as its look; for example, an advanced touch interface eliminates the conventional keypad. A price for the unit was not disclosed. The initial launch is planned for distribution starting in Europe—first in Italy, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany—followed by Asian locations such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore. The Korean version of the phone is scheduled to launch in the second quarter of 2007. “As we do with ready-to-wear and accessories, we were looking at a break-through,” said Patrizio Bertelli, president & CEO of Prada. “Consistently with our approach, we are not branding an existing product; rather, Miuccia and I have been working with LG to give this new phone a very strong character and unique style, both in its contents and in its design.

Hum ... Im intrigued ... and maybe I already want it?

Me too!
If D&G can have a mobile phone, Prada surely can. And besides, Prada is basically always centered around technology so why not? I bet it's going to be extremely "tricked" out and gone very quickly when it arrives! ^_^

Thanks for the articles style_expert! :flower:

pffft. Balenciaga should make a phone! Hmmm I'm going to try to find a picture...

^ I'd love to see a Balenciaga Vertu...I guess nobody could afford it but still...the idea ^_^

This picture was attached to an article about the PRADA cellphone on the LG Italy website. Not sure if this is it though. Maybe they are just making a PRADA version of the KU950 like D&G did with the RAZR?

HAHAHA....

i just want to see a phone that is designed by the designer, the shape and everything to do with its industrial design...

and not just the color change and some "D&G" sign at the back or a keychain or embellishment....

oh well...

what on EARTH.
there's just so much stuff happening with that phone.

It's kinda confusing though. It looks like the screen can twist, but I dont get the reason for that happening....oh well. I want a Balenciaga Vertu! OMG Did anyone see the Boucheron Vertu? :o it was like $100,000. I think it's in the latest issue of W Magazine. INSANE!

LG AND PRADA PARTNER TO DEVELOP ICONIC MOBILE PHONE

Press Release
UNDER EMBARGO UNTIL 02:00 TUESDAY 12TH DECEMBER 2006

LG AND PRADA PARTNER TO DEVELOP ICONIC MOBILE PHONE
The debut in early 2007

Seoul, Korea. December 12, 2006 - LG Electronics, a worldwide technology leader in mobile communications, and Prada, one of the world’s leading brands in the luxury goods industry, today announce an exclusive partnership to develop an innovative and iconic mobile phone.

The first Prada telephone by LG will combine high-end technology with avant-garde design offering the best in both style and performance. This forward-thinking product is the result of a different approach to the typical fashion designer and mobile phone manufacturer co-branding exercise. Leveraging on their respective expertise and know-how, Prada and LG have jointly explored and developed all aspects of this new product. The collaboration focused on the key elements inside the phone, such as software, user interface and music as well as its look, for example design and packaging.

The result is a unique, sophisticated and elegant phone, with an advanced touch interface which eliminates the conventional keypad.

The initial launch is planned for early 2007, with distribution starting in Europe (firstly in Italy, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany), followed by countries in Asia such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore. The Korean version of the phone is scheduled to launch in the second quarter of 2007.

“Here at LG, we are very excited by this partnership,” says Mr. Mun-Hwa Park, President & CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. He continues, “Prada’s legacy for classic and sophisticated design meant they were the perfect partner to develop this shared vision of innovative technology and ultimate style. We are passionate about developing exclusive phones that appeal to consumer’s desire to express their personality through their choice of mobile and feel very strongly that Prada shares this belief.”

Mr. Patrizio Bertelli, President & CEO of Prada, said: “As we do with ready-to-wear and accessories, we were looking at a break-through. Consistently with our approach, we are not branding an existing product; rather, Miuccia and I have been working with LG to give this new phone a very strong character and unique style, both in its contents and in its design. We, just like our partners at LG, are known for the attention to detail and uncompromising quality of our products. And we find these characteristics in the new mobile phone.”

I don't expect too much when it comes out with LG.

NOKIA wud be much more tempting

I wonder if it will be as cheap as the D&G Razr, where supposedly the gold rubs off within three months.

I've tried out the phone - my only gripe is LG's SMS function is crap....
